Problems with the Z that should be addressed in 2018 onwards
hi
370Z has been my dream car since 2009. 2 months ago I got a 2010 Nismo. 1) there's no OIL cooler. OIL heats up very fast and high. I have to spend $300-600 on OIL cooler (Parts only) (2012 and up still run hot with stock oil coolers from what I hear.) 2) The gas tank has a real stupid issue where will get oil starvation (even when gas is a bit more than 3/4ths full) when you turn a bit hard to the right, making honda civics seem like Lamborghini next to my stalling Z. (I'm exaggerating for comedic effect here, don't bring out the butthurt) 2017's still have this issue. You need to spend between $300-1000 to fix this issue. (Parts only) Also it's not reading the gas tank very well. 3) sound system BLOWS. This varies depending on the user, but to have something decent people will be spending at least $300-500. (Not asking a luxury system, but something that doesn't sound completely distorted when you put it on 22 volume level) The reason why I bring this up is mostly so SOMEONE does something for future models. It's mind blowing that a company as legendary as Nissan doesn't address issues very well. If you know any other issues worth mentioning, try to keep the numbering in order. 2 - oil starve only happens if you're running low on gas and make really fast turns. Fill up on gas regularly and slow down. I've had the car down to 1 dot and warning light come on with no issues on making right turns. 2 - it's a sports car, not a luxury car with 20 speakers.

Thanks for your response.
I've edited the little details. 1) 2012 and up still run hot with stock oil coolers from what I hear 2) even when gas is a bit more than 3/4ths full 3) (Not asking a luxury system, but something that doesn't sound completely distorted when you put it on 22 volume level) Quote:

Sheesh i have an 09 and my only complaint is the clucth slave issues. Other then that its a fantastic car.....its built like a go-kart!....oh wait yes i do have 1 complaints...or maybe its my luck or my car but my ac doesnt work. But as far as sound system goes just upgrade. Do everything yourself. Its a sports car. If you dont want extreme buy a headunit and upgrade to better speaker and run a amp.
I have never had oil temp issues but then again i dont beat on my car alot. I just do sprints here and their and 1/4 mile it every so often. 1 other complaints aftermarket hurts the wallet lol Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk |

It's a sports car.
With the obvious history of sports cars by nissan being used for the most extreme sports, having issues like this is counter productive to say the least. You are a normal civilian driver, you don't stress the car. people who drive hard have this issue, therefore I'm not sure your input is all that relevant. (no disrespect meant) Cheers Quote:

Here's what I think of my '16 Nismo so far:
1) Oil cooler is more than sufficient for regular street driving. Never noticed any higher than normal oil temps. But, I've never tracked it. 2) Never noticed any gas starvation issues and I have driven quite aggressively on an almost empty tank (1/8 full). 3) The Bose system that came with my car is quite good. It is supposed to have noise cancelling feature which is probably working but I can't tell. So yeah, there were improvements over the years. Were all issues completely solved, I don't know. |

Anyway, 1 & 2 are really autocross and road course issues that don't effect the majority of people. And 3, you know that from the first test drive. You can get a high quality system for less then the added cost of the bose option, also there is so much road noise sound quality is less of an issue. Also I would love to know where #2 is fixed for $300, there are only 2 solutions I know of one is $1k and the other is to cut the tank in half. For the majority of Z owners the CSC and thin paint are the only real issues. |

How about the fact that it's almost 2017 and the car hasn't had a meaningful update since it was released like 8 years ago?

2 - something else is wrong and not the fuel starve issue if it's more than 75% full. That should only happen when fuel is low. 3 - most speakers will have distortion if you turn it up that high, unless it comes with branded speakers. Most manufacturers put audio on the bottom of their list of priorities for their cars, except for their higher trim level ones.

In terms of concept and changes like or not Z34 is dead. Any and all thought should be looked at for the future for the Z35, I would not expect any changes what so ever in the future for the current Z,
