Had it happen once on a good 3/4 tank sweeping S high speed cornering. Threw a code too.

The Bose system in my fully loaded touring sounds pretty sweet to me.

LMBmikeZ 12-02-2016 03:39 PM

bose>base but that's a no brainer lol

I think we're a Lil long in the tooth for issue addressing. We just need a new car with that turbo engine.

Drops Mic.

My biggest issue with the car is the way it sounds like I have an exhaust leak when I do the Home Depot washer mod

Who needs good speakers when you have a F.I. Non-res catback?

370Z has been my dream car since 2009.
2 months ago I got a 2010 Nismo.

1) there's no OIL cooler. OIL heats up very fast and high. I have to spend $300-600 on OIL cooler (Parts only)
(2012 and up still run hot with stock oil coolers from what I hear.)

2) The gas tank has a real stupid issue where will get oil starvation (even when gas is a bit more than 3/4ths full) when you turn a bit hard to the right, making honda civics seem like Lamborghini next to my stalling Z. (I'm exaggerating for comedic effect here, don't bring out the butthurt)
2017's still have this issue.
You need to spend between $300-1000 to fix this issue. (Parts only)
Also it's not reading the gas tank very well.

3) sound system BLOWS. This varies depending on the user, but to have something decent people will be spending at least $300-500.
(Not asking a luxury system, but something that doesn't sound completely distorted when you put it on 22 volume level)

The reason why I bring this up is mostly so SOMEONE does something for future models. It's mind blowing that a company as legendary as Nissan doesn't address issues very well.

If you know any other issues worth mentioning, try to keep the numbering in order.

Cheers

Not to rain on the parade, but people have discussed these issues before, and you can't count on Nissan being that "SOMEONE". Just got my Z this year, too, and it's been a long time coming since eye-ing it upon debut (was just starting college). Knew about the issues as I was scoping what to look out for with used models. CSC, clutch and flywheel upgrades were done to take care of the obvious issue, as well as up response and smooth out shifting.

Ecutek actually covers a few bases considerably:
-brings some low-end
-fixes laggy throttle respone
-cooling is a much less of an issue for regular driving (radiator fan timing is adjusted)

Not sure if a tuner can override or adjust SRM, but if they could stop it from holding revs during upshifts that be a nice step up.

As a daily driver, the only lingering concerns for me atm is the fuel starve, which remedied by driving and fueling habits (although that's lame), and I think my trunk will be due for fixing soon.

First & foremost, Nissan should come out with a totally new Z for model year 2018. Then we can bitch about da flaws in dat one :icon17:

I had a c6 corvette with multiple issues that weren't fixed in later years too. Every car brand has issues, ours are no exception so we either fix it or live with it.

I don't track my 2014 Z, but I've been known to drive in a "spirited" fashion. I've never, ever, had a fuel starvation issue no matter how empty the gas tank.

My car does have an oil cooler and I've never had even the slightest concern for oil temps. I suspect very few ever would if there wasn't an oil temperature gauge right there on the dash where you can obsess over it.

As to sound system...that's entirely subjective. In a low-slung sports car with minimal sound dampening and the rear wheel is about 12 inches from you ears, to even speak of harmonic distortion is silly IMHO. I'm confident for the vast majority, the stock system, especially the Bose, is completely adequate. IMHO. YMMV, but you can't propose your view of the sound system as an absolute. It's especially suspect to complain about current models since you're driving a 2010.

I'm happy with the Bose in my 2010, coming from an s2k, this sound blows my mind lol

I've had a ton of POS cars in my life, so I have a ton of gratitude just to own a 370z, so I'm keeping it, and will do a few basic mods...
