My first was……………a white (new) 1981 Mazda RX-7. I have to scan a photo.
I used to look at 280ZX’s in my rear view mirror all day long! It had a few mods!! |

Mine was 1972 240Z.. found it in a lady's gararge in 1985..I was 16... Her son had bought it brand new in 1972 and then was killed overseas 2 months later... had about 5 covers on it and 800 miles.. She just let it sit for 13 years...

Mine was a 90 civic hb bought new. Was a nice car. My current dd (FitSport) reminded me of it so got 2 of them. . One for me one for the wife.
Leading up to the Z... Always wanted a 2 seater. Having great experience with my G35C, it just came naturally. My other serious option was the next gen S2000 (S3000 V6?) that was suppose to launch soon...but canned by the economy. |

Wow, a story of Garage Legend. Tell us what had to be done to the car to make it roadworthy. Was it a rustbox?

1983 Nissan Sentra. My parents bought it for me when I graduated high school because I had a full ride scholarship to college. It was the least expensive car on the market at the time, $4949. No AC, no radio, no options. Over the 4 years of college, I worked a few jobs to pay to mod it out, before modding was even really popular. Riken wheels (rwd offset in the back for a lip!) Kamei front airdam for an 80 celica rear spoiler test pipe ansa exhaust flipped the air cleaner lid for more air induction Killer stereo with a 12" sub which was unheard of at the time 1/2 ohm bose aftermarket amp and speakers concord head unit and I'm sure some other stuff I have forgotten. It was pretty quick too. I actually raced and beat 2 different 240sx turbos! I waxed it weekly and it still looked brand new when it got stolen. I've loved Nissans ever since.

I had a 1980 RX7. First foreign car, first small car, first well handling car. Loved it with the heat of a thousand suns.

My first one
My first one was a red 1979 Rx7. I loved that car. But I used to like the 240s as well. Some folks in Maryland where I lived had some tricked out 240s and they were really fast.

First car
After I was hit on the Washinton Beltway I-495, and had the car fixed, my girl friend talked me into trading it in on a Toyota Celica. Should have kept the car and traded...When she found someone else, I bought a gold 1980 Rx7 4 speed and moved to California. I had to sell it (mistake again) but eventually bought a used silver 1979 Rx7. I kept it a while and then bought a used 1984 RX7, black with red leather, and finally the 1986 blue Rx7 I traded in on the 2009 370Z. I wanted another Rx7 but the Rx8 just wasn't the same. I am very happy with the Z.
