But at the same time, you ideally should fork for the clutch and flywheel since the transmission has to be dropped and you're already spending on CSC and CMC. Helps with the response and vague clutch feel of the car. You shouldn't be charged any more for the labor either.
I had actually already considered that as an option but the car only has 46k so I'm not really worried about the clutch. Sure, I know they'd be there but honestly it'll be a while before it needs the Clutch and Flywheel combo.

46K miles on the Z? Definitely CSC first. It could go at any time.

I've got 85K miles on my Z in Texas without any form of oil cooler. I drive it hard and keep an eye on temps. The only restriction is how long I can beat on her before she needs a cool down (hint: not long). Oil cooler is the first mod planned once I get another DD so I can start autoXing.

Now that you've said it in that tone of voice I think I'm gonna look at the service history and see if it's had the CSC replaced previously...

That wouldn't matter. It would have been replaced with another OEM csc, so it could fail the next time you push in the clutch.

So is there ANY consistency with how or when the CSC fails?

None whatsoever. There's stories here about them failing on cars with 1500 miles on the odometer. Hell, one guy had it fail during the test drive.

Take a look at the clutch fluid. If it's dark, especially if it has black grime in it, then you're about to need a tow truck.
