Especially with how small out tanks are what is it a maximum of $2 difference between filling with 87 or 93. If your that strapped for cash you can't swing $2 you should probably not be driving at all, and certainly be looking for a different car.
Will it destroy your engine, of course not. But there is most definitely a difference and I just don't see a reason to ignore the manufacturers recommendations over something so trivial. Believe it or not sometime engineers actually know what their doing

As others have mentioned, you may experience slight loss of performance, but that's about it. If you had a turbo car, you'd notice it a lot more.

If you drive you car easily, and don't track it or whatever, you will never notice a difference, even if you used 87 for prolonged periods of time. Just keep your maintenance up.

It may be a decade old... others may have similar concerns? There is nothing wrong with just discussing.

Nothing wrong with discussing, but all you did was regurgitate what several other people said a year ago. That's not a discussion ... that's just being a parrot.

Reinforcement is good, so there is no doubt left.
