Z06 C7 or boosted LSX 370z?
I was thinking about getting a new Z06 Vette next year but then just thought about putting a built ls in my Z. Not sure which I should do right now. A new Vette with all the new tech sounds dope. But a light Nissan with a v8 sounds sick too.

I have a SC custom air to air 370z and im thinking of selling and going Z06 C7 ha ha
a V8 in a 370 would be cool but way to much work |
In theory it really isn't that much work. I looked into it last year. Apparently it's harder taking out the VQ than it is to put a Ls in it. It's just do I spend 80k on a stock car or throw another 20 in mine and have something unique?

Boosted lsx is not happening for 20k.

Im all for unique but damm that new Z06 is pure sex You test drive one yet ? Dont unless you want to own a Z06 lol |
|
I went to test drive one and ended hopping a new Z28 because he said that's more of a track car. I'll try to get to a Chevy dealer next week and try one. Have you? The Camaro wasn't as crazy as I thought. Turning and braking was incredible. I want a car that scares me again. Z feels normal to me.

Motor I already have and I'll use the strong 370 tranny. Figure 5k for for engine build nothing crazy. Just rods and Pistons and freshen up. No more than 2k for parts rest is labor. Another 5k for single turbo and intercooler set up. Would use a sub 1k BW. Then the other 5k would be for fuel and little stuff I forgot which would add up. I'd also be doing a lot of the labor myself which would save me a ton but. Realistically you can have a non boosted ls6 in your 370z for 10k easy |

Seriously, go for the Z06. I'm not a Corvette fan... or at least I wasn't until now. |

C7 all day!! First off its new vs old so c7 wins. Easy vs hard to obtain = c7 wins. Trouble free for years vs trouble even before you start the build = c7. Looks sexy = yup, c7 looks. Better than Z imo. Design to lay globs of power down in the Twisties and straight vs only going Twisties and totally suck straight = c7 wins. Ohh there is plenty more but you get the idea. I love my Z but I'd trade it for a new c7 any day. Boosted z are cool and rare find but so is a z06/7.
Edit: I forgot to mention that a cam and exhaust v8 just sound nasty!! It always turns my head when I hear one rolling Cuz it sounds like the car is about to go eat a Prius !! Lol. So bad azz! YzGyz |
Short List
C7 warranty. LS 370z no warranty. C7 new tech. 370z old tech. C7 no millage on non-engine stuff. 370z has millage. C7 suspension for track comes with it. 370z need to buy $2k+ coilovers and still aren't as good as the C7. C7 new car smell. Or buy a base 981 and swap in a 3.8 911S engine with warranty (Porsche gives core credit for 2.7L engines get $6k back). Mid Engine over everything. ;) |
For street use, C7 Z06 for sure. If you track every weekend, stay with 370z unless you are willing and able to deal with replacement parts costs. Tires and rotors alone will burn a hole in your pocket.
