Default Nissan battery

Are they really worth it. I bought my car used in late 2013. The previous owner had just bought a new Nissan 84 month battery 2 months prior so it only lasted about 34 months. I left for a 10 day vacation and now it won't hold a charge. The neighbor is looking into a Napa battery. Any suggestions

Optima from Amazon

So easy to get replacements. Why not take the battery to the dealer to warranty out?

the reviews on Amazon said poor packaging and half the people sent the battery back. I did not buy it at the dealer the previous owner did. Does it matter? I might could find the info on the maintenance record the previous owner gave me.. Optima is like $225 almost twice the cost. I will research.
THANKS

I bought my 2010 Z new in November 2010. The builder plate inside the drivers door says my Z was built in October 2009. Therefore in was an early 2010. I still have the original battery in my car and so far it keeps on ticking. I do have a feeling it is going to go bad here soon due to experience with other car batteries.

I have an Optima that I got at Advanced Auto Parts. They had a code online and I used the code and picked it up at the store. I paid $159 (plus tax).
I've had it for three years and not a lick of problems.

A Nissan branded battery is no different than the batteries you can get at your local auto parts store - you just pay more to get the Nissan sticker. Unless you are wanting a lighter, "high-performance" battery (eg, the Optimas mentioned above), just get one of the mid-line batteries from a parts store and take care of it.

Most battery warranties I've seen are pro rated (the older the battery is, the less will be refunded) and not really worth much.

You might want to check for a parasitic load on the battery (stereo, radar detector, &c).

I learned a lot from the thread below. I ended up with an AGM type from Deka. NAPA now sells AGMs. Saw PEP Boys also carries AGMs. The only problem I have with On line battery sales is how carriers treat heavy loads during shipment/delivery. I always suspect these things are dropped accidentally during shipment. I'd rather pick them up from a gravity fed battery rack at a brick and mortar store.

New Battery - which brand??

Red.

I dug into my purchase and remembered that for some reason, I didn't have to pay a core charge, so I ended up taking the old battery to Auto Zoned-out and got money for the core. Cha-ching!!
I just checked their site and if you do the old online sign-up, they give you 20% off of your first online purchase. They also now have a $20 core charge.

I bought my first Red Optima from Optima's site a few years ago and paid $150 shipped.

Like everything else, the prices seem to have gone up quite a bit. Black Friday is a good time to find deals on these.

Pretty good price at Amazon right now. https://www.amazon.com/Optima-Batter...a-0450df0e3f8d

Also, home depot sells various exide batteries. I replaced the one in the G last fall with the exide 24fx. It's $90 with a 40 month free exchange. Slightly bigger than whatever the car came with but still fit well. It's a pretty beefy battery. Was $100 last year, now $90.

800-cold cranking amps at 0-degree F
960-cranking amps at 32-degree F
120-minutes reserve capacity at 25-amp

id just get a decent generic battery from the autoparts store or walmart. group35 i think it was.

considering the 12 yr old G i sold a few months ago was on original battery with plenty of cca, i dont think the car really needs anything dat special. its really how one takes care of the battery.
