Default Trying to buy a NISMO. How much can you go down on the posted price?

Hi

I'm new.
I'm on the hunt of a white Nismo 2010-2014.

MAIN QUESTION: If posted price is $25,000, how much can you offer lower than that and make it an acceptable offer?

I'm not sure why the dealerships price some of them so high up, like this guy in Tampa with a 2012 asking 29k for it or this other guy asking 23k for a 2013.

Then I realized 2013 and 2014 are not as expensive.
Whats the reasoning behind it?

But main question is, if posted price is $24,000, how much can you offer lower than that and make it an acceptable offer?

because a dealer just came back to me and said the lowest they could do was $300 less.
(coggins)

lol right?

Obviously older should theoretically be cheaper. But the newer, pre-facelift nismos had 2-tone paint and a lot of people didn't like that. YMMV. IMO it should be just like buying any other car; make an offer and see if they bite. Mileage will play a big factor too. Any dealership will give you the rare car song and dance to try to avoid negotiating, but they're not THAT rare so don't be fooled.

Also you're not that far from me, so don't buy a black one.

There are a lot of factors to consider here. Do you have cash in hand? Or are you going to be financing?

You can get a much better deal buying private party assuming you have the $$ ready to go. The advantage of going with a dealer is all the paperwork/financing can be done in house...but you won't get the best deal. It really comes down to convenience and what you're willing to pay.

If you're not in a rush...take your time and shop around until you find the best deal!

Default Thanks everyone

I appreciate all of your responses.

To clarify more, no, I don't have cash in hand.

I have $2k down
and financing.

I'm expecting to make more in the 2nd year and be able to pay it off by the 2nd or 3rd year, but I'll start with 60 months.

I saw many private deals that were great but no one would want to do financing on that with $2k at least.

$35k for a used 2014 nismo? ins't that a bit much?
a 2017 costs $40.

I wish I could buy a 0 miles 2014.

Thanks again!

You're in MD, where I used to live.
I live in FL.
Why not a black one?
I'm looking for a white one 2 tone actually.
It seems it'll be impossible under $23k

how about the sport model, bigger brakes, LSD, much cheaper....doesn't have the bling factor....I put a used Nismo CB on my sport and couldn't be happier.

if I had to do it again I might go touring for the leather/heated seats but in N. Ca. the winters are short..

Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm still not sure, but the biggest factor is the suspension.

Nismo's has the most acceptably stiff to me.
I want to drift with it, so the stiffer the better.
and I won't be able to make big upgrades until Q1 2017.
so I'm stuck with whatever I get till then.

Thanks so much for the help though. I'm not 100% on it.
I've seen a nismo 2014 for $23k which I can get.

But I've seen modded sport versions for 16-18k which isn't bad either.

I like the shape of the nismo and don't like the squared shape of the other ones though.

Cheers

Good luck. Low mileage ones are more than 24k. 2014's are 35k, 2013's are 32K, etc, etc. The ones in good shape are not cheap and yes, the older they get the rarer they are.

So 2010-2014 are more expensive than 15-16 because they're "rare"?

Being older models they should be cheaper than 15+ models. But..

FYI pre 15 models are serial numbered with a plague because only the Z had a Nismo trim, making them exclusive. On 15+ Nissan expanded the Nismo trim to other models like Juke and GT-R so no more numbering.

If you're into that limited production and stuff..

Oh.. and pre 15 Nismos have stiffer suspensions than 15+

you're gonna want more than just stiffer suspension to get going with drifting...

If you find a 2014 nismo for 23k I would be concerned. Even a salvage one go for more than that. a clean title, low mileage, one owner 2014 nismo is around 30-35k depending on mileage. I remember coming across a '15 nismo tech for 30k w/only 10k miles. clean title too. turns out it had major undisclosed frame damage and 3 owners and moved from auction to auction.
