I was planning on driving it to the ground but things changed. I love my Z but my daily commute is bumper to bumper LA traffic....and I have MT. It takes me an hour just to get to work on a 20 mile stretch of highway. It's getting a bit ridiculous.

I've owned my Z for over 6 years and I never got bored of it. I'm planning on riding it out for at least 4 more years but I can't make any promises. Porsche Macan, 4 door infinits, and other V6 sport luxury sedans are getting my attention. I feel guilty thinking about it but I cant help it. I was a 20 year old college student at the time when I purchased my Z and it was perfect then. But I'm actually taking marriage into consideration with possible family in not too distant future.

I bought mine and have the intention on keeping it forever. Of course, time will dictate if that ever happens.

Personally, owning the facelifted Nismo, I feel this car will age very nicely. At least that is my hope. In 25 years I want to be able to pull this thing out and have it be like a what a 240/260/280z is today (yes, I know some of those are older, but you get the point).

At this point, I'm considering keeping the Nismo stock, save for some modest and easily replaceable pieces... Lowering springs, spacers and likely that's it.

And then I want to do a resto-mod 240z, and make it simply badass. A fully restored and purpose built hoon-mobile.

I'm more of a handling guy rather than a speed guy, so I likely will never get bored of the 370. I grew up honing my skills driving numerous FWD Hondas... Power was never big on my list... But throwing the car through a corner at, uh... spirited speeds never gets old. That, and it's not like car handling is drastically improving these days because, unfortunately, physics is a bitch.

hopefully until retirement, so about 10 years total. I have a 2012. of course if it starts to break down a lot and getting too costly it'll be time for a change. but I'd like to keep her until we move down south and i'll get another sports car that won't be subjected to new England winters and road salt.

For me it will be 7/10 yrs.
10 yrs. x 5,000 mi = 50,000 mi. Non modded, senior owned / all original / winter stored = top $
That's my plan. Do you guys ( or gals ) even think along these lines, or am I just crazy?
Pretty close to my plan although you will have about double my miles.

Nice to see some guys in my age bracket (70s) driving a Z. Bought mine new in 2010 and still fun to drive.

Test drove the new Shelby GT350. OK but prefer my Z.

This is my plan for when I will get rid of my Nismo.

1. When I die. Then it goes to my daughter. She has a 350Z. Planning on getting planted in my Power Wagon.

2. When I go to a nursing home. I'll give it to my daughter so she can take me for rides in it on the weekends.

3. If I get into money problems in retirement. Then I'll sell it.

4. If I come across on a deal for a 2017 Viper ACR.

I'm keeping my car as long as I can keep her alive. I drive her, put miles on and smile. When I get a new car, it will be an addition to the stable. I'll drive and own her till the block locks up or blow up. Then it she is rebuildable, she get rebuilt and I drive her more. As long as I can keep CV my matching Nismo VIN, I'll keep her.

My Z is my daily driver, but I'd also like to keep it forever; the two are at odds with each other.

At some point I'll end up buying a different daily, and the Z will become much more of a project car.

I have a question for those wishing to keep the car till it becomes a classic. Will the vehicle be worth more if kept in stock form or would mods add more value to the car?

Purely a collectors item as close to original factory specs always brings more money.

For me, I'm like Rusty... she will be with until I run out of road to keep driving her on! Some people say to me; "that car has so much power I be afraid that I would kill myself." My reply is if I die at 160 mph you can bet there will be a **** eating grin on my face when they find me!!!

I bought mine back in May of this year with 34 miles on it, 14 of which I put on it during the test drive, so 20 miles originally. Within the first two weeks, I already had an axle back exhaust on it and tinted windows. I've never considered a lease vehicle simply because it's impossible for me to leave anything stock... Ever!

I've never had a "set" period of time of when I would trade in my cars. It would just happen when it happened. And I have never completely paid off a car that I bought at a dealership (except for one), so a bank has always owned my vehicles.

I've only truly owned four vehicles, one of which was my very first vehicle when I was 17, a '91 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab that I bought outright from the dealership with part of my trust fund, an '84 Mazda RX7 that I got in trade for stock wheels and tires off of my '96 200SX SE-R, a '93 Geo Storm automatic (don't ask - also, the one and only auto I had or ever will have) and a '91 Mazda Miata that I paid cash for.

I would like to think that I'll keep my Z for a long time, and if it treats me right, I just might. I absolutely love this car and have never said or thought that about any of my other cars. But as times change, you never know what's going to happen down the road.

One thing I can say, this is the only car that I have done so many mods to in such a short period of time, and not cheap mods either! LOL

I ran mine until it was 250,000 miles and sold it about 6 months back, fun car, sort of miss it a little, but I have other toys and a sweet DD.

My Z is the second Nissan I've ever owned. A daily driver like all of them have been. I'm at vehicle #32 in my 48 year life - from Triumphs to Cadillacs. My philosophy being love cars too much to not enjoy every drive, every day, whatever the weather. (I've done well over a million miles in life so far.) But my most recent circumstances require a 'middle of nowhere at midnight at 20 below idling for hours' level of reliability. So I've drawn an arbitrary line at around 100,k miles, or obviously any display of a lack of dependability.

While I love my first Z (a '13 sport), it's at +82,k. I'm anxious for a new Z because I fully enjoy it! But, if something new isn't forthcoming I'll sadly be off elsewhere.

I don't think I'll ever live long enough for the Z to become a classic, that said IMHO I think a un molested virgin is going to bring more $ than one that has been slammed and jammed through out its life time
