When you bought your Z, did you plan on how long you'll own it for ? For me it will be 7/10 yrs. 10 yrs. x 5,000 mi = 50,000

For me it will be 7/10 yrs. 10 yrs. x 5,000 mi = 50,000 mi. Non modded, senior owned / all original / winter stored = top $ That's my plan. Do you guys ( or gals ) even think along these lines, or am I just crazy? Last edited by old guy; 09-23-2016 at 10:34 AM. Reason: Changed title |

I've owned mine for 4 years now and I'm starting to look for a replacement. Nothing excites me that I can afford so for now I'm happy sticking with the Z. Only have 37k on it so no hurry to get rid of it. I'm an old guy too and happy to report that I can still handle a manual without arthritis bothering too much. I hope the day never comes when I need an auto.

Target was and still is 250k miles. Same as when I bought my 96 Tacoma which is now at 265k. It had 249k when I bought my Z. Z is around 65k now so, 1/4 of the way.

I've had mine for 2 years and sadly have only driven it about 2200 miles, 13,xxx total miles. I had planned on keeping it for a long time (10+/- years) but things change. The new owner is coming to pick it up next week, to make room for it's replacement.
What I've done so far; Exhaust, test pipes, intakes, springs, wheel spacers, tint, OMP pedals. Parts piled in my basement; Motordyne M370 intake mani, NST UDP's, CF duckbill, CF rear diffuser, CF fang cover, CF stereo bezel, CF hood struts, CF shift knob, short shifter, complete sound system. I'm sure there's a few parts in the pile I've forgotten about. ...45 year old kid.

I'd would love to keep mine for ever (5.5 yrs so far) but all the electronics eventually go bad and as some point it's just not practical to keep it running. So I guess you can say I am hoping for ever but planning for the worst.

Bought mine with the intent to keep it forever...only has 25000 miles on it now, but I am always looking for a replacement. Not that the Z isn't a great, unique car, I just get bored with the same-old, same-old. But for now, it will be my "fun" car until further notice...

When I bought mine at 27k miles (at 34k now) I intended to keep it for ~10 years. Unfortunately, I had a lack of foresight when I bought it and am going to have to sell it in exchange for a house. However, if it wasn't out of necessity I wouldn't have sold it. Probably would've kept it until it died, so many many years.

I've had mine for 4 years, it's paid off and retired it as my DD with 70k miles, now it's my weekend and AutoX toy. I still have lots of mods planned for it and I never intend to sell it as its my first sports car in what I hope to be a long line of sports cars in my future

I only or usually keep cars for a few years or until something else catches my eye. Like a lot of us I am waiting for the new Z to come out, but in saying that, this time next year I will be looking at the new Corvette Grand Sports seeing how much the price has came down.

How long do you plan on owning your 370z?
Bought her new and do not have any plans to get rid of her Also, I never consider resale value on a vehicle. A car is not an asset. I assume 100% loss and any return I consider a bonus.

Bought it in 2011 with 7k miles. So it's been a little over 5 years, currently at 35,000 miles. At this point, between the mods and the depreciation over time, it's definitely worth more to me to have a car I enjoy driving and trust for reliability than the money I could possibly get selling it.
Likely keeping it until I'm unable to drive it as a permanent part of my garage. It'd share space with any future sports cars, like if I were to get a Grand Sport in a few years. For new cars, nothing right now under $80k would be enough of a change to justify buying.

Bought mine in Dec 2013 with 78K miles, sold July 2016 with 109K miles. About 12k miles per year. Had headers, tp, exhaust, coils, wheels, spacers, crank pully, full audio upgrade
The plan was to keep it until I got a good enough job/promotions to get a better car. And that's exactly what I did. Got a 2014 Cayman S 2 months ago at 25 y/o Already have springs and upgraded brakes waiting in my house to go on. Car mods are a $$$ addiction.
