what if someone wants to drive your Z ??

I let a good friend of mine take my Z for a spin one evening with me riding shotgun. Despite my clear warnings not to get on the throttle on long C turns, he did, a little, and nearly put the thing into a guardrail. Aside from that, the deceptive perception of speed produced by the Z meant I had to constantly remind him of our 70 mph bursts in a 25mph residential area laden with pigs. It was truly nerve racking, but he enjoyed the drive so much that I really can't say it wasn't worth it.

This is the primary reason no one drives my car, period. I know my car, the 'A-driver' doesn't. I let a 'friend' drive my 67 Chevelle while I was sitting in the passenger seat. He promptly spun out on some sand, ran the car off the road, screwed up the alignment and wrinkled a fender. To add insult to injury, he didn't even offer to pay for the damage.


My car, my money. You want to drive one like it, hit the dealer.

Those people begging to let them drive it are most likely the ones with the least experience. But then again, I'd let anyone drive my Z with the right cash deposit first.

Sometimes just keeping silence is way better than making unnecessary trouble, and at least I believe so because if you cannot understand what's wrong with you then it is pointless for me to say that.

My ex wanted to drive my z28 until she found out it had 3 pedals. Problem solved

To date, the only people that have driven my car were mechanics, in my presence, to get it from the parking lot to the car lift.

So seriously, how many times have people seriously requested to drive your car?

The question could be just a harmless request, but your poker face non-verbal response can be viewed as anything from simply afraid-to-say-no to getting offended or arrogant. A firm but polite response is better.

When asked a question, especially face to face, silence with a emotionless facial expression is most likely not the best polite nor effective response.

Owned my car for 5 years now. Only a lady friend asked to drive it. It sounded so ridiculous to me I laughed a little and said no. I found out she was serious when she immediately asked a second time. I just told her, I don't let anyone drive my cars. If you want to be nice, you can always ask them what's the fastest car they've ever owned. If it's slower than the Z, you can use the Z's too fast for them excuse. If they had something way faster, ask how long they had it and if they ever hit anything with it. That still could put them in to the Z's too fast for you category. If that checks out, ask them how many people they let drive it. If everything still checks out, I would be, "yeah right, I'm still not letting you drive it."

Seriously, unless it's a life or death situation, there's no good reason to risk someone else screwing up your ride.

One exception, if they let you drive something bada$$ of theirs in the past. Then you kind of owe them. That's why I don't accept offers to drive other people's stuff.

Hey, Chuck. Seriously, let me calm down myself first, and now I say that it is absolutely okay for me that you say any of your opinions freely in this forum.

For me what matters is your way to say a thing. Please say anything just in a right way. I got upset very much when I saw you used those insulting terms 'socially awkward BS' toward me.

Maybe it seems like you already forgot that, but now I'm still remembering a happening that last time on my another thread you kept showing sarcastic response even after I had apologized for any inconvenience sincerely to you. (at least I felt so even though it was not intended)

It drove me crazy at that time because I thought it was inappropriate, and today I got bursted based on that.

I'm now an US resident but I'm not a native American, I was not born here, what worse is that English is not my mother tongue (even though I'm trying hard to improve it by myself), and I'm from a different culture. If I do not know how to behave polite in this country, I do agree to that it is my own problem and I need to fix it up anyway.

I don't want to make any trouble. I want to believe you are a good guy in the real world, but we've never met each other and even on this Internet we can easily misunderstand each other's nuance or intention. I have always done my best to keep my manners here. I'm a human, not a machine that I do have my emotions too. I hope we do not hurt each other anymore.

About that saying 'no' - well.. in fact, personally I'm so afraid of those who get angry to me when rejected (it seems so unreasonable) or those who try to take advantage of me when I gently say 'no' to them. Some people that I had met in my life, they did not stop there even when I really said 'no' - rather they kept trying to pursuade me. It was so stressful. Therefore later I made my own decision that I'd better keep silence with my poker face and not give any response to them rather than having risk for any possible argument.

That was a story.. It's still a kind of dilemma to me. If I say 'no', a case might go worse. If I do not say anything, then it might be rude..
