Yes inspect the shafts that go from the rear differential (the pumpkin in the center of the rear) to both wheels. You will find the rubber boots covering the CV

Yes inspect the shafts that go from the rear differential (the pumpkin in the center of the rear) to both wheels. You will find the rubber boots covering the CV joints there. Inspect them for any wet oil or fluid on the boots first, then there will be a crack and further inspection may reveal a bad CV joint. Its all good, no need to feel foolish.
