UPDATE 10/6/16
I decided to contact Nissan Customer Service to see if they were willing to work with me. They told me they'd look into it and see what they could find, I figured they'd knock off a grand or something like that. It took them 4 weeks to get back to me, but they finally did. Nissan has agreed to cover the repair under warranty and will swap out the engine with a brand new one. They told me I should have the car by the end of next week.

Good idea I am going to start checking my oil as well reading all this reminded me of what happen to my wife at her dealer. I have been taking my car to the dealer as well for the service plan i have. Not all mechanics are bad at the dealer, but it is best to check there work. but i'm glad they were able to take care of you.

Well that was a surprise ending. I didn't see that coming as I read through the first three pages. And its great news! I'm glad Nissan stepped up and did that for you.

So I got my car back last weekend, they had it for two weeks, and now I'm going through the break in process all over again. Not exceeding 4k RPM, no cruise control, easing through each of the gears (for the first 1500 miles).

First thing I did when I got home was to check the oil level.
They didn't put enough oil in as it barely comes up to the halfway point. I don't care that much though because I'll be changing the oil after 1k miles, but it kind of pissed me off when I first saw that. I've driven it 400 miles since then and the oil is still at the halfway mark, so it doesn't appear to be burning anything off at the moment (granted I am babying the crap out of it right now).

He stated the car is under service contract, it could have an extended warranty. My GF's Car she bought this year has 10/year 100,000 mile.

Contrary to popular belief, the oil being halfway between the high and low marks is ok. For an enthusiast, maybe it is not. But in reality, you're fine.

You're half way between the MINIMUM and MAXIMUM fill lines. Why are you concerned, lol? No where in any owners manual I've ever come across did it ever stipulate "thy oil levels must be at thy maximum"
