Im not sure, maybe.

If you guys have ever driven a Toyobaru BRZ/FRS, those things feel fast, even though they aren't. That feeling of speed - or lack thereof - can be quite deceptive.

P.S. Don't feed the trolls (ignoring traffic light racer GTI).

Americans can care less about driving dynamics... just keeping it real. All they care about is meaningless straight line speed. That's why very few car companies are trying to work hard at fixing feedback issues with electric steering.

In 2009 & 10. This YouTube video is what sold the Z. When mustang improved the coyote engine to beat the new camaro & new Z34. Nissan sales went down.

Till this day, nothing over 300HP communicates through the steering wheel like the Z and the now defunct evo. And now that's gone.

If people keep buying cars solely based on straight line speed? Car companies will abandon handling for speed.

And that's when American people will cry for a car that handles. It's a vicious cycle of consumerism.

Support the sport. Not the trend.

Yes, the autos feel faster because of the torque converter and are faster because of .300 millisecond shifts.

This :iagree:

I recently drove a BRZ (and it had intake and exhaust) those things are soooooo slow. I didn't feel the perception of being fast at all. Yeah they take forever to rev up and go thru the gears.

4.7 seconds manual Z
"Locked and loaded with a 332-horsepower, 3.7-liter VQ37VHR V-6 and unique “SynchroRev Match” six-speed manual, which blips the throttle on downshifts without a heel-toe maneuver, the Z rips to 60 in just 4.7 ticks on its way to a quarter-mile run of 13.3 at 105.7."

Yeah but that 4.7 was because the moon stars and quasars aligned when the Z god came out that once a year. 4.9 can be hit on the regular.

For me, the car is fast enough and that cute butt can't be beat. The exclusivity is what is attractive for me. Mustangs and American muscle cars are all over the place.

that deceptive lack of speed in the z is scary... looked down and I was substantially higher than the posted limit. oops.

I mean I was doing 130km in a 90 zone and it felt like I was going 90. didn't help no one was around and I was like well shiat. gotta slow down.
