driving in sport shift mode
Hi , not sure if this has been talked about before , basically want to know if i can drive around in 4th gear 2000 / 2500 rpm in sport shift mode up to 60/70 kmh or do i have to keep changing till i get to 7th gear? not sure what that is in mph?
anyone? |

I don't think you can upshift to 7th at that speed. My 7AT prevents upshifts until rpm reaches 2k or thereabouts (gear dependent). I can't get 7th gear until I'm at 48 mph (77kph).
If the road is straight with low traffic and few stops, I'd shift up to 6th for sure. With traffic and/or stop lights, I'd stop at fifth. However, you could cruise noisily in 2nd gear if you wanted. |
well i shift up to 5th and sit comfortably around 2 rpm , just didnt wanna put strain on the engine , would sitting at 2 rpm in 5th gear burn the petrol ya think? only had my car for 2 weeks , still getting use to it lol :eekdance:

Why do these types of threads even exist?
Sorry, but if you don't have the common sense to know when to shift gears or what gear to be in in a certain situation, then you shouldn't be driving a stick, and if you have an Auto, leave the damn thing in automatic mode. Obviously, the car is smarter than you. I swear, it's like a bunch of 7 year old kids on here posting these silly questions. I'll put it to you simple... If you want max efficiency, accelerate slow, shift low without bogging the engine and keep the rpms as low as possible, in the highest gear possible, no matter what speed you're going. If you want max performance, ring that bi*ch out to redline in every gear. |
