GT-R spark plugs on N/A 370z

Any thoughts on using GT-R plugs for an N/A z34?

I have exhaust intake and a tune. And frequent pinging when it's cold.

Thank you!

Are your plugs running too hot? That would be the only reason to change to cooler plugs used in the GTR. Your detonation is most likely poor fuel or too much base timing.

Sounds like your tune needs help. I ran FI for a little while on stock plugs and didn't experience any pinging.

I think the Tuner tuned it too lean.

I feel colder plugs will make your car run worse... No?

Not if he's experiencing early detonation... or am I missing something?

Either way, a N/A Z should never need to play musical spark plugs.:shakes head:

If he's suffering preignition due to overheated plugs and valves, then a cooler plug could help. The symptom he describes sounds like detonation and colder plugs won't help.

The plugs aren't actually colder, they're the same rating as the OEM plugs. Just smaller gap.

I get 2-3 degrees of pulled timing when I see the CEL and monitor via OBD.
