what the heck is this ExpressLane ?
Here in California I never violated any law and always followed my GPS for an unknown destination.
Then today I got a mail from Metro charging me $25.30 violation fee for that I drove their ExpressLanes without a valid transponder. My Z is fast enough that I don't need any additional fast 'track' at all. I'd just paid it, but still cannot understand what's my wrong really. I didn't see any sign which says it is so 'special' lane, and think they should make sense to charge me something like this. It's like a mean theft. Sh*t. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk |

You can't really miss the sign that indicates there is a charge. It's like going through a prepaid toll road |

Ha! Around here in FL, people think the emergency lanes (shoulders) are their own personal express lanes.
On a more serious note, I guess those express lanes are basically the same as the "carpool" lanes around here. |

They put their fastlane just like an extension of a freeway. I even didn't have any chance to determine whether or not to enter into that way. Can I charge you a fine every morning you pass through after buying some land in front of your home that actually it is my 'fastlane' ? Totally out of common sense. This is a trap. I came to a post office to send my claim letter to their customer service, but now it is closed. :( Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk |

I always use my GPS only for its voice function when the display turned off, and of course I am not blind that I do see what's on my windshield. Sad. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk |
I feel your pain. Several years ago I had a similar experience. While using my GPS, I was traveling from San Diego to LA in a rental car and somehow got diverted onto a toll road - which I programmed my GPS to avoid - and didn't have a chance to exit or stop at a toll booth to pay. Several weeks later, I received a bill from the rental car company for a bill of not only the toll charge but for their service to process the fine. No need to fight it, I just paid to the bill and moved on.

Were you on 580? Last I drove there (April/May) that lane was starting to open. There were signs from what I remember, and I think it really starts counting against you when you're within the lane separators. Cameras show up before that, and I wasn't ready for that part. Just got out as soon as I noticed, wondering if I'd see a fine. Luckily didn't.
Ever more confusing is it's a different version FasTrak (Flex). I wasn't clear if it could roll over on my existing FT, and found out it really is something different altogether. State just looking for ways to get more money. To use that lane you need a new account for the Flex, and have a carpool/hybrid/ev/motorcycle. |

Anyway this is annoying. This time I look it over, but I'll take that serious if it happens again. I donated $25 to the Metro. I could buy a delicious skillet with that money !! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d22be51873.jpg  Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk |
Only the freekin government can charge the tax payers to build the " free way " then charge you to USE IT!
It's time to WAKE UP AMERICA ! |

So, you were oblivious enough to drive in the toll lane because the GPS told you to and you blindly followed it. Now you're whining because you were popped for driving without a toll tag? You didn't "donate" ****. You drove in a toll lane without a tag. It sucks, but it's 100% driver error. It's scary you drive around and not paying attention to your surroundings. Are you one of those people who drive into lakes and buildings because the "GPS told me to"?
