Bose System value?
How much is value of the Bose System? I know Bose is frowned upon, but i was wondering if any dealership would remove it and just give me the base instead with all the touring goodies? And so that way i would save the money in negotiations?
Thoughts? |

would be very expensive to physically remove it so i dont think your negotiation plan is going to work (?)
why dont you just get the base and add a HU later, instead of getting the touring model and down grading it? |

Not only is Bose crap (though still better than most OEM systems), but it's installed from the factory, and has a number of pieces to it that would require removal. They'd not even come close to breaking even, even if they sapped some poor sucker into upgrading their "base" model with a Bose system. The amount of money they'd have to charge someone for the upgrade, to cover their costs, would be enough that the person being suckered would have to question if it'd be cheaper and/or better to get an aftermarket system installed - then again, I'm the type that would question why someone would want it removed, if it's "so worth it".... Well the thing is I want everything in the Touring except the Bose...
I plan on putting in complete aftermarket audio... So okay, do yal think a dealer with let me get a base and add in the Homelink/Cargo Cover/Leather seats? And if i did would i end up getting priced less than a touring? |

YOu can buy a base and do those thing, but it will cost more to do with OEM parts than the cost of the touring package. Just the seats alone will cost you more than that unless you go with cheap aftermarket leather. |

the Bose system consists of (at least) 4 components:
Head Unit Amplifier (behind the seats/under the floorboard) Speakers/Pods Each speaker is typically mounted in a ported enclosure and when replacing them, you would need to fabricate a new bracket or stand-off. When completely bypassing a Bose system and upgrading the head unit and speakers it is usually best to run new wires to the speakers directly from the amp or head unit.

Haha, its not a matter of what i can afford. Its just i dont want to pay for something im going to throw out anyways and that way if i can just save on the cost as well. If its plausible, by all means im up for it, and i was trying to find out other people's opinions on what the dealer would and wouldnt do! Every penny counts!

i'd recommend trying to get the system without the bose. easier to upgrade for sure. early on i wanted a 350z enthusiast partially because it had no bose.
get a base sport, some nice aftermarket seats and an indash navi

However, since then I've determined that I'm ok with the Bose system, I still don't have an XM account, I use the hell out of the 6-Disc changer (all loaded with WMA/MP3 files), and I've got my new cell phone set to use the car's bluetooth. End result, it's been worth it for me. DO I plan to eventually pull out the Bose system - sure...but, then again, I'd lose cargo (lol) space in that's I'd have to have a seperate sub, or lose the spare tire for a sub/amp/etc (and just use a roadside kit) Anyhow.... |

Just get the base... 90% of dealerships will add the leather seats for $1100. (@ least that's the price been quoted to me) Then get the $320 home link mirror. And then get an aftermarket hatch cover at a custom shop about 500. And u save $1800 and u have the bulk of the touring options without the bose.

hahaha, that's funny cause the reason why i didn't go for the touring was because i wanted cloth seats. i didnt care for the bose or nav so didnt really mind it. but i did want the aluminum pedals and homelink mirror so install that later and also added a dvd HU with backup camera on mine.

a dealer would honestly prob hand you your keys to the trade back
I really don't understand the logic here, it seems like you can afford the car if you are this concerned over a Bose system being removed to save $20 a month at most. |
