Well, that was wierd....

Got home from dinner last night, locked up the car. Came out this morning. Both doors unlocked and both windows down.

I'm sure there's some logical explanation, but it's so far eluding me.....

TerribleONE 07-13-2016 09:43 AM

You must have somehow sat on your key fob/leaned up against something and the unlock button was pressed and held down long enough to roll the windows down as well. I have seen this happen to a few other members as well

Desert Rat 07-13-2016 09:44 AM

holding the button down on the fob will roll the windows down?

:iagree:

Well that's a better explanation than extraterrestrial paranormal possession of my car's electrical system perpetrated by the cigarette smoking man from the X files....

Then again, it's not nearly as cool a story, bro...:icon17::rofl2:

That could have happened also...

mults 07-13-2016 10:42 AM

Maybe the extraterrestrial was in possession of your remote...could happen

Desert Rat 07-13-2016 12:53 PM

Is that an extraterrestrial in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?

I want to believe...

stansens 07-13-2016 06:08 PM

So my 2016 locked itself when I walked away. Most likely squished the fob while it was in my pocket...sorry not many aliens up here.

Yaknow, if Smoking's Man's sitting on your fob ... you've got bigger problems than Mulder ....

Word.

This happened to me not too long ago as well. I'm a manager at a grocery store around here and I had opened the store that morning at 6 AM. However, an associate around 8 AM came to inform me that my windows were down. Luckily, no one had tampered with my vehicle any, but somehow I must have pressed down on the fob.

Or....as the others eluded to, the C.G.B. Spender maybe involved somehow.

You can also put the windows up by putting the key in the door and holding it in the "lock doors" position :)

My 2014 has a fob only. No key.

I wish they also did the opposite and rolled them up when you'd hold the lock button on the fob.

I've been thinking that since the Acura days!

I still don't get the point of that hidden key. It will unlock your door, but that's it. Still can't start it. I guess it could be considered handy if you wanted to wait inside the car instead of out lol

Not worth the effort, which results in gimmicky at best if you ask me.

I've never done it, but I'm pretty sure you can use it to start the car if the battery in the fob is dead.

There's a slot on the bottom left of the dash, under the traction control disable, into which you can insert the key and get the car started.

Evidently it serves a purpose. :)

mishuko 07-20-2016 01:36 PM

little different but my mom's car (is250) when her battery was dying caused her windows to roll down in the middle of the night in winter and some random things happening to her electrical...

did you check your battery level in the car?

Didn't realize there was a spot for it.
Ok, apparently not as redundant as I thought!

Edit: went and tried, yep it works. Turns out I did know what slot you were talking about, and had wondered word it was for! Just push the key in then hit start button and fired right up.

Slartibartfas 07-20-2016 05:41 PM

Where was the fob when you started it with the key? Anywhere near the car?
