First modifications?
Hi, I am looking for First Modifications I should make to my 370z? :)
I am sure threads like this exist all over this forum, but imo each Z is unique, :p I drive a 2012 Touring 370z A7 Only things I have done was Plastidip the badging and rims. And switch the badge on the back. Some Pics of mine.. http://s31.postimg.org/to59rnjwr/image.jpg https://s31.postimg.org/57iij1oiz/370z.jpg https://s31.postimg.org/b6bbg94vv/cooooooooo.jpg Now what is some things I can do myself that are easy that you would recommend? :) Thank You for any help!!! |
A budget might help narrow down your choices. My vote would be intake. Second would be a front sway bar if you are mechanically inclined. A nice cheap interior mod would be a gtr start button and gtr clear lenses for the map lights. Good luck and have fun with the mods.

I do the same first mods on most of my cars: lowering springs and wheel spacers.
|
Free and quick....remove the hideous plastic engine cover.
|
Swap to extra Virgin olive oil.
|
Dude, it's a sticky in the very subforum you posted this in. :rofl2:

Plan on another couple thousand for supporting mods with any forced induction kit you go with. Also, if you're not going to do the air-to-air kit for the Stillen SC, the Boosted Performance single turbo kit is a better decision. |
Lets see..
Springs (Can do it yourself if with proper tools) or Coils Spacers Interior LED GTR Start Button Exterior LED (Within tails/headlights) Upgrading headunit Radar system (hardwired to rearview mirror) Exhaust (Axle back or full catback) Intake Spacers and the list goes on and on and on.. haha. |
There are already a LOT of threads about mods on this site. Drivetrain, exterior, audio, the list goes on and on. Pics, vids, DIYs. Scan through those and see what catches your eye.
I don't like this site's search function, so I go to one of the major web search engines and add "site:the370z.com" to my search string. |

you should start a build thread instead ? |
I couldn't see pics of your car when I first posted, but now that I have, and you mentioned you have a few thousand to spend, I suggest getting the Sport Akebono BBK. Of course, you could always go with a different and more expensive brand if you want.

As to the mods, it depends what you want to do with the car. Whatever it is I try to come up with a master plan for my end goal, and make sure each upgrade I do along the way is a part of that. And that way you are throwing money away such as buying an intake when you will be getting one when you go SC. The stock lens aren't that bad anyways. In your case I'd maybe throw a set of K&N drop-ins into the stock boxes and call it good until you get your SC. |

Don't waste money on things that don't fit into the final plan. |
You mentioned GTR start button and map lens. You should start with those then.

First and foremost mod: learn how to drive her. Know her limits and acclimate as you progress in power.
Before any significant power adder you should probably upgrade the brake pads. Do some research here and come up with a conclusion. There are plenty of threads on this. If you're just going to "pretty her up" with makeup and drive her as a cruiser then it's whatever. |
The first modification of any new Z owner is to master the search function of this forum. Seriously.
However, wheel spacers, a CAI, sway bars and 60mm CBE run a close second. |
