the $35 dollar adapters they sell might be a cool idea matched with nissan maxima throttle bodies
60 mm (OEM) vs 62mm ( dayton ) vs 80 mm ( Maxima )

Still more then I want to spend on TB... unless they make extremely big difference on power...

JARblue 06-24-2016 10:11 AM

Might as well go with Mine's TBs for that price. There are other more reasonably priced options out there :twocents:

Everyone knows I use Maxbore for porting my TB's. The difference in going with a vender vs going to the source is a few things...

1. I pay Maxbore for all the bells and whistles (thinned shaft, flat head screws etc) and it's cheaper than going to him direct as I get a discount.

2. I pay for full insurance! For the parts and for the porting if the TB's are lost or damaged.

3. PayPal, fees etc are all covered in the price you pay.

4th and best, the TB's TPS is very sensitive. If you send your TB's to Maxbore there's a chance the TPS could be damaged in shipping to or from or when it's sitting on his bench getting worked on. If this happens you're screwed. You have to pay another $100 or so for a used TB on eBay, you have to pay for shipping and porting again and fingers crossed that TB still works! You'll be $200+ more invested and that'll suck. Not to mention all the down time. It normally takes a few business days to ship your TB's. Then 4-5 days for the work. Then a few more business days to ship back. Guaranteed you won't have a car for 2-3 weeks. Some TB's have taken a month to get back as Maxbore can become very busy.

With me you're covered!! There's zero down time for your car! If you buy my TB's and you have a broken TPS from me, all you have to do is take off your working TPS before you ship them back to me for your core refund. Clearly before install of my TB's yours would have been working 100% so you know it's good. It's a simple 4 screws to remove and the black TPS cover pops off. Swap it over to my non working TB and you're set. This right here alone is worth it with peace of mind!

FYI...
My TB's cost $305 total for you whether you send yours in or you buy mine. I send you a refund if you turn yours in.

Daytonas are like $1200 or $895 if you send yours back in. Mine are bigger and better options like the thinned shaft and flat head screws etc.

MINES from Japan are $3600 or $1600 if you turn yours in.

EPS are $799 and adapted 70mm maxima TB's. I can of course also port these to like 75mm also for $305.

In the end it's how big you wanna go and how much you wanna spend!

thank you for posting, i was unaware that your company did this. Keeping with the original question, is there benefits to doing the upgrade?

TB's, my ported upper and ported lower got a solid 10hp. 306 to 316 in 4th SAE. The 324 is just 5th gear vs the 316 with ported parts.

Yeah, HP :tiphat:

i just want mod tb's dyno not with other parts modded. how much gain just from doing the tb's mod to a stock car. thats what i'd like to know.

ChopsZ 06-29-2016 04:17 AM

I've never heard of TPS' being so fragile before. But if that's the case, just remove them before shipping the TB's off.

Also, what's the stock bore on the upper intake manifold? If it's the same size as the stock TB's, then boring out the TB's aren't going to net you anything except money out of your pocket.

Lastly, on a stock motor with just intake and full exhaust, are the stock TB's actually holding back the engine at all? Are they bottle-necking the engine at all? I kind of doubt it, but I could be wrong.

Oh, one more thing... From what I understand, our TB's are pretty much 100% open all the time and acceleration is actually performed via the intake valve control (VVEL). So if you're looking for sharper throttle response, you should really be looking at getting a tune, not bored TB's.
