UPDATE!

So the car as of right now is in the shop still getting fixed / done, total estimate was about $1600 (not including suspension work, just body) and today I went down to the station to get a copy of my police report found out that the two Hispanic lied to the police, under Misc section of the report it said "Vehicle 1 (the party at fault) was "trying to pull down the left hand turn signal but instead pulled down the gear shifter, than accidentally backed into Vehicle 2 (me)". I honestly think it's ******** because the red light was still "RED" when they backed into me so obviously they pulled down the gear shifter to R trying to get out of the turn lane unless they were trying to run the red turn light by taking their feet off the brake and slammed on the gas pedal....it doesn't make sense how the cop didn't realize that, sure they can accidentally pull the shifter but the car won't move unless they take the foot off the brake and slammed on the gas. WHICH at the time the light was still red. doesn't make sense.

it doesnt really matter who lies. you think the police can know 100% without being there? plus, they dont care. a report gets filed, and your insurance company decides who is at fault, not the police.

police only care if there was INTENT involved, and then it would be on a crime report instead of a traffic report. dont worry

Real shame about this. To be fair, if the driver *thought* the van was in drive as a result of *thinking* that they turned on their signal, but actually engaged reverse gear on the column, then all they would have to do is release their foot from the gas pedal *thinking* they were moving forward with the traffic and here we are. So it is plausible. BUT, that said, it's still operator error and they would still be at fault. And it would be a stupid thing to do. And what were they doing w/o a license anyway. And it sucks cuz it's a beautiful z. But whatever ethnicity or anything else, couldve just been a bad day for them too. Just being real at no expense to the compensation you are permitted to...

so today marks the big fat 10 days without my Z. Called the insurance numerous times and finally got things straighten out, so the damage was mostly outside, so got a new bumper, new rightside headlamp, the paint job too was done differently, left the fang area black like modshack's. Also it will get an alignment and suspension check since I felt the car tremlining a bit more than usual. And on top of that, the body shop has guaranteed the work for lifetime, if not satisfied they will redo.

Did these amigos speak any English? I know a lot of people in CA who have been hit by illegal immigrant Mexicans who are driving without a license or insurance.

UPDATE! Got my car back today, didn't pay a penny since insurance waived it for me since it's not my fault. And also have the front fang left unpainted. Looks really nice and will post pictures tomorrow along with the install of the Spawn Aero B-Pillars. Details are as followed. total damage comes to about 1800 dollars. Since had to replace little parts here and there. And I have a hood on back order since it's not sitting as flush as normal but not really noticeable. But hey I bought this car a month ago and I'd like to have that new car look instead of knowing that there are minute imperfections. other than that everything is great!

That's exactly right. Sadly it's not just immigrants anymore. Right now there's a large amount of people that can't afford insurance right now, so it's a likely hood that if you get hit, the other driver won't have insurance.

Glad you got your car back, Jake. Looks great with the black fangs.

Thanks crash and yes that is very true, due to economical down turn people have also taken things off such as uninsured motorist off of their policy to reduce their monthly bills. Until they get hit by an uninsured person. Guy insurance is insurance, pay for everything they ask because one way or another you will get hit or hit someone someday.

so you are leaving the fang area unpainted?

have you or are you going to wax it or treat it otherwise to give a solid layer of protection?

Go after their employer through a vicarious liability suit you will most likely win. Happy she's back, looks great.
