Got rear ended

3 Attachment(s)
Last Wednesday, waiting for a light, then boom! Got rear ended by a VW golf. Don't understand what was the biatch doing. After the police arrived, the biatch started lying " he suddenly stopped during a green light". Lucky I have a dash cam.

Rear bumper, two tail lights are gone! Not sure how much damage underneath it. A little worried about the left quarter panel, since there is a half inch gap between the left side skirt and the quarter panel.

Her insurance estimated it would cost 2K to repair it. My bodyshop estimate about 3K. Dropped the car at the bodyshop and let them directly bill the insurance company.

Claiming diminish value now. Not sure if I should lawyer up at this point.
Any advice ?

I'm an advocate for dash cams. When people ask why, it's reason's like this. Good to hear you had one for this crazy biatch.

I bet she was texting/phoning, usual cause for rear ending in traffic signals, which prompted the desperate lie.

Best wishes to you.

what does your ins. co. say?

here in Cali, if you rear end someone, it's almost always your fault.

good luck

She rear ended my car.
Her insurance company already admitted it is totally her fault.

Well, what did she have to say for her self when you showed the dash cam evidence?

This is about the 5th or 6th post in the last 6 months where a Z has been rear ended!
What's up with that?
Brother, report any back or neck-pain asap! Hope you're well, the car can be fixed.
Best regards

Doesn't matter if you slammed your brakes in the middle of a green light (obviously you didn't), it's still her fault. Stupid twat. I would have told her she's the reason her parents are pro-choice.

BTW Volkswagens are pieces of $h*t. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

She didn't say anything. The policeman said he didn't need to see the video, no matter what color the light was, she can't rear end anyone.

The initial estimate can be way way off. Mine started out at $9500 and then went to $24,000 when they got into it. Need to wait until the rear bumper cover has been pulled off to really see the damage. Dosen't look like she was going too fast. I ,however, got nailed.

Yup, this is correct. You're covered regardless of the dashcam. Still great to have though. GL with repair and make sure you choose the most expensive place to repair your car so you can teach that lying c unt a lesson

Sucks man! Good luck with the repairs

Rusty 06-14-2016 11:39 PM

Crap! What is it with people and the rear of the Z??? They got target fixation or what???:shakes head:

It is a hassle. Same thing happened to me. To save money, insurance companies will repair the bumper rather than replace. A replacement is much better. I worked with my shop to get a replacement when the insurance wanted to repair. The cost of the '12 bumper was similar to the cost of a '15 Nismo and that's what I did.

Looking at pic 2, is your hatch open? Looks like a big gap there. I am guessing that the 2k estimate was done after the take down and not just an exterior inspection. It seems like a low figure.
