I found nice mustangs that are cheaper than 370zs though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Simply put, best looking, sexiest, most bang for the buck!
I have always favored imports, living in metro Detroit, there have always been soooooooo many mustangs, cameros, Chargers, challegers, just wanted something different. Got my first import in 1974 and haven't looked back! |

I liked the 350 race car from Grand tourismo 4...
In second year I saw a beautiful yellow 370z. I said to myself that will be my car in the future. Oh on another note they brought the yellow back for 2017! |
I was set to pull the trigger on a 2011 5.0 6MT hardtop... then I drove my nismo and it was all over.

Sick of AWD under-steer with an STi

Back in high school, I had a beat up, rusty old 240z, and I loved that thing. Then I abandoned Nissan completely until ...
I got a new video card (tech geek that I am), an AMD 380x. Looking for new video drivers, I Googled 380z; up popped a bunch of hits and pictures of the 370z. What a fateful typo! Wifey got up, I talked her into going to test-drive one that day after breakfast, and I ended up owning one a few weeks later. |
Affordable, sexy, iconic, reliable, mod friendly, quick, fun, and rare/unique

5th Z owned.
1973 240Z Pair of 1983 Turbo 280ZX's 1985 300ZX And now this one. Was this or a fire breathing American muscle car. I was torn, but found the better deal on my Z....and only 10k miles on the clock when I bought it. Am happy with the purchase. The VQ lacks the torque off the line compared to the American V8s, but the handling makes up for it. Just wish it was quieter inside, especially on rougher pavement. That's my biggest complaint. |

I hear that a lot.. Gotta get an audio system to make up for it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
After growing up with British sports cars , when I retired I wanted one more real sports car before I got arthritis and couldn't drive a stick anymore. I couldn't afford a Porsche so the Z was a good fit. So far so good...no arthritis yet and if they still offer a real manual gearbox, my next car will also be a stick. Screw those floppy paddle shifters. I'll get one of those when my left leg quits working.

A little sound deadener in the hatch, especially on the wheel wells, goes a long way. |

Late 2002. Miami, FL...
I was a senior in high school, waiting for the bus to go to my part-time job, listening to my Sony Walkman (yes, they were cool at one point) and I saw a car approaching that I had recently read about in my Car & Driver/MotorTrend magazines. A 2003 Diamond Graphite 350Z was cruising by. I snatched off my headphones and listened to it as it sped up to get through a yellow light. It looked and sounded like nothing else on the road. In the mind of a 17 yr old car enthusiast, it was beautiful, different and attainable (someday) and gave me something to dream about. I remember going to work that day saying "one day..." ... that's where the love began. |
From the time I was little my dad had a Z or a Datsun roadster in the garage being restored. I feel in love with them then. I've had 2 others a '79 280 and 94 300ZX TT. I've never been a huge import guy but I've always loved the Z's

Search on Youtube for how to remove the rear panels. Once you have the hatch exposed down to metal, you can use Dynamat, which is pretty easy to work with. Here's a good place to start. |

I do wish I never would have sold my 240Z tho.

Bought my first sports car after my first summer job when I was 16, a 78 280z. Loved that car. So many great memories.
Fast forward 24 years later and countless vehicles in between I finally got another Z. Brought back a lot of those memories, and am amazed at how they managed to keep a lot of the essence of driving the original Z in the 370. Kudos are definitely due to the design team. The only way it could be better was if I'd kept that 280 and had them both parked side by side in the garage :) |

Crazy memories. The 370z feels a bit like the 240z, especially in seating position, and how you feel like the you are the central pivot point of the car as you steer (so little car behind you). :) But it's also so much more balls-y. You know what I mean. :D |
had a 350z which i loved very much and could not find anything comparable in the market with a 6 speed transmission.
|
I'd love the 370 more if a rocket bunny kit was made but.. Where my tea

Friend had a z32 which is what first turned me onto Z.. Always been a huge Nissan guy and was a GTR fan boy for sure. Back on 2008 I wanted a 350z HR but timing wasn't right.
Fast forward a couple years, got married and was looking for a fun car again. Never been a muscle car fan and wanted finesse over brute force so I ruled them out. Porsche Cayman styling at the time didn't tickle my fancy so I looked hard for a 350z HR. Ran across my 370z for a deal I couldn't pass up so I bought it. No regrets since and I'm now forever part of the Z fam. I always thought I would get a GTR next but I can honestly say I'd rather another drivers car.....manual of course Bc I like the old school rawness of a manual. No plans to get rid of the z but hopefully there's a worthwhile successor. Otherwise I'm most likely getting into a Cayman. Love the current gen. |
Always been a Nissan guy. The is my 5th Z. Also had a few S14s.
Plus, 0% APR is hard to ignore. :D |

I've always loved Z's!
While growing up, one of my friend's mother had a '79 280ZX. Looking back now, they certainly weren't the best looking thing, but definitely better and cooler than my other friend's mother's gold Chevy Citation. I loved riding in that 280, mainly because I was riding in a "real" sports car, and I was always fascinated with the dash layout with all of the gauges in the center. A few years later, one of my other friend's father bought a brand new '90 300ZX. I really loved that car. It looked great and sounded great, and I was impressed that it made just about the same amount of horsepower as the same year Mustang 5.0 with two less cylinders and two less liters of displacement! Much much later when the "brand new" 350Z debuted in '02, it was love at first site again! Unfortunately, I was working at a crap job with crap pay and could never afford one, so all I could do was look and dream. Then... in '08, the GT-R came out and one of my favorite design aspects of that car is the roof line. There's just something about the way the A-pillar meets the roof and then the roof slopes back towards the trunk. When the 370Z came out in '09, totally redesigned, one thing that caught my eye right away was that near identical roof line from the GT-R! To add to that, those huge built-in fender flares front and rear. What's there not to like about the 370Z's style?! And throughout this time, one of my good friends (which is also a member here on the forum) owned a 350 Nismo and now owns a 370 Nismo. Seeing random pics of his car pop up on my FB page over the years just helped me that much more on eventually getting one. And one last thing, since I started driving in '93, I've had 13 different vehicles. Out of all of them, only one was an automatic which I owned for exactly one month (what a POS), and five of them were FWD. All of the others have been RWD. This Z makes this my 14th vehicle, and of course it's RWD and 6 speed... The way it should be. :driving::tup: |

First dealership I've ever gone to (I think I was 7yrs old) was a Nissan dealership. My aunt was shopping for a car (Maxima), and my dad went as support/negotiator.
Walking through the front doors, there was a white 300zx TT proudly displayed in the center of the showroom. I remember running straight to it, and quickly got in and adjusted my seat. I shouted back at my father "hey daddy look I fit, I can reach the pedals!... lets get this one". Of course my dad was all kinds of "what the hell are you doing?!", and told me to get out of there. I obviously did not leave with the car... but I did get a brochure.... and that's when the "Z seed" was planted. Since then, I've always admired the Nissan Z cars. I almost got a '91 red 300zx NA for my first car... but I had a really bad feeling about it, and didn't pull the trigger. The 350z was nice, but it was out of my price range at the time. When the first 370z photo's came out in late '08, early '09... that was it; I had made up my mind about my next vehicle purchase. |
Picked up a 71 240z for $500 in the late 80s. Needed some bodywork and a new front winshield but everything else was in top shape. It was my 4th car, put over 100k really hard miles on it. Back in my reckless driving days. Speeded everywhere and evaded more times than anyone would believe. Finally got caught after getting chased, spinning and rolling it. Fixed it, drove it some more and then changed over to a 69 Vette that I had for a couple of decades. I hadn't put many miles on the Vette since I put the second motor in it and bought my truck. I wanted something fun to drive around in that I could drive every day and had air conditioning. My 240Z was the best fitting 2-seater that I ever owned and I love the look of the 370Z. So I researched the hell out of all the cars I liked, made a spreadsheet and the Z came out on top. I've done a few performance mods but nothing that's made it less comfortable as a DD so I'm enjoying the $hit out of it. 58k miles and still looks and runs like new!
And can I say, thank you Japanese reliability! |
After I completely rebuilding/restoring a tore up 97 Miata. I got the urge for more speed and power. I also didn't want a car that everyone in the neighborhood had; mustangs, dodges and camaros. Wanted a great, affordable car that not everyone else had. The 370z. On top of a Z fan for a long time. I waited for the right car and price and then made the jump.

Back in 2002 when the Z returned and was the king of the newsstand for a month or so(and after going to a car show to make sure I could fold my 6'5"s into it) I dreamed of a new Lemans Sunset Z for a while until one morning while walking thru the parking garage into work I saw a new silver Z convertible and new it was my bosses new car, she had been going on about trading in her mr2 on a new Miata but when I saw the silver Z I knew it was hers... Got my car magazine cover girl L.S. 350Z that weekend after one test drive(the salesman(son of owner) handed my wife & I the keys and said "curvy roads that way" and pointed. It's possible I was not on my 'A' game with negotiations for that purchase with the drool and all.... Kept 10.5 years, bbk, turbo, explosions, engine rebuilds ,autocross trophies (participation?) and about 1000 laps around Sebring later she still looked nearly new when I traded in for the current MB (with extra B) Z. I got a free "lifetime" powertrain warranty and plan on keeping her 20 or more years. |

I was driving my Hyundai hatchback with the now Ex-Wife and kid in the car going back home from a Sunday drive. I was in the Military stationed at Fort Lewis (Tacoma, Washington) at the time in 1990. Topping a hill crest, there it was infront of me. The most unusual most beautiful sports car I was to behold... I had no clue what it was at the time, but my neck got a crick in it turning all the way back as I passed him. He was certainly enjoying a nice easy ride through the countryside... that was the moment for me. I knew that someday, somehow, I was going to drive one of those... whatsits... Then I found out it was a Z32. Left the Military in 1992 and went to civilian life. In my office, I hung a poster of Steve Millen's Z32 on my wall...
Attachment 115070 This was my dream till 1998 when I finally could afford a used one - a Twin Turbo Z32... Attachment 115072Attachment 115073Attachment 115074 Kept it till 2005 when I sold it to a friend in the Z Club. Then, waited a few more years and then pulled the trigger on a 2011 370Z... These were very difficult years in between waiting to be able to get another... Now, I am back in the saddle again with my Z34... Lovin' every minute of it!:driving::tup: Attachment 115071 |

My Wife!
She said "I want you to HAVE this car!"

I had a 77 280Z back in college, but eventually ran out of time and money to keep it, so I had to sell it. Fast forward a few years when the Z33 came out, and I wanted one, but with wife and kid, couldn't afford the impracticality. After my second divorce, I was stuck with a Pathfinder that I didn't need or want.
One day while I was at the dealer getting the oil changed, I saw a Z34 sitting off to the side of the service department. After seeing it was a 6mt with the sport package, I found a salesman and test drove it. I was hooked, it drove way better than the Camaro SS and Mustang GT. Left the Pathfinder there and drove home in the Z. Love this car. |
