Late 2002. Miami, FL...
I was a senior in high school, waiting for the bus to go to my part-time job, listening to my Sony Walkman (yes, they were cool at one point) and I saw a car approaching that I had recently read about in my Car & Driver/MotorTrend magazines. A 2003 Diamond Graphite 350Z was cruising by. I snatched off my headphones and listened to it as it sped up to get through a yellow light. It looked and sounded like nothing else on the road. In the mind of a 17 yr old car enthusiast, it was beautiful, different and attainable (someday) and gave me something to dream about. I remember going to work that day saying "one day..." ... that's where the love began. |
From the time I was little my dad had a Z or a Datsun roadster in the garage being restored. I feel in love with them then. I've had 2 others a '79 280 and 94 300ZX TT. I've never been a huge import guy but I've always loved the Z's

Search on Youtube for how to remove the rear panels. Once you have the hatch exposed down to metal, you can use Dynamat, which is pretty easy to work with. Here's a good place to start. |

I do wish I never would have sold my 240Z tho.

Bought my first sports car after my first summer job when I was 16, a 78 280z. Loved that car. So many great memories.
Fast forward 24 years later and countless vehicles in between I finally got another Z. Brought back a lot of those memories, and am amazed at how they managed to keep a lot of the essence of driving the original Z in the 370. Kudos are definitely due to the design team. The only way it could be better was if I'd kept that 280 and had them both parked side by side in the garage :) |

Crazy memories. The 370z feels a bit like the 240z, especially in seating position, and how you feel like the you are the central pivot point of the car as you steer (so little car behind you). :) But it's also so much more balls-y. You know what I mean. :D |
had a 350z which i loved very much and could not find anything comparable in the market with a 6 speed transmission.

I'd love the 370 more if a rocket bunny kit was made but.. Where my tea

The beauty and the beast.

Friend had a z32 which is what first turned me onto Z.. Always been a huge Nissan guy and was a GTR fan boy for sure. Back on 2008 I wanted a 350z HR but timing wasn't right.
Fast forward a couple years, got married and was looking for a fun car again. Never been a muscle car fan and wanted finesse over brute force so I ruled them out. Porsche Cayman styling at the time didn't tickle my fancy so I looked hard for a 350z HR. Ran across my 370z for a deal I couldn't pass up so I bought it. No regrets since and I'm now forever part of the Z fam. I always thought I would get a GTR next but I can honestly say I'd rather another drivers car.....manual of course Bc I like the old school rawness of a manual. No plans to get rid of the z but hopefully there's a worthwhile successor. Otherwise I'm most likely getting into a Cayman. Love the current gen. |
Always been a Nissan guy. The is my 5th Z. Also had a few S14s.
Plus, 0% APR is hard to ignore. :D |

I've always loved Z's!
While growing up, one of my friend's mother had a '79 280ZX. Looking back now, they certainly weren't the best looking thing, but definitely better and cooler than my other friend's mother's gold Chevy Citation. I loved riding in that 280, mainly because I was riding in a "real" sports car, and I was always fascinated with the dash layout with all of the gauges in the center. A few years later, one of my other friend's father bought a brand new '90 300ZX. I really loved that car. It looked great and sounded great, and I was impressed that it made just about the same amount of horsepower as the same year Mustang 5.0 with two less cylinders and two less liters of displacement! Much much later when the "brand new" 350Z debuted in '02, it was love at first site again! Unfortunately, I was working at a crap job with crap pay and could never afford one, so all I could do was look and dream. Then... in '08, the GT-R came out and one of my favorite design aspects of that car is the roof line. There's just something about the way the A-pillar meets the roof and then the roof slopes back towards the trunk. When the 370Z came out in '09, totally redesigned, one thing that caught my eye right away was that near identical roof line from the GT-R! To add to that, those huge built-in fender flares front and rear. What's there not to like about the 370Z's style?! And throughout this time, one of my good friends (which is also a member here on the forum) owned a 350 Nismo and now owns a 370 Nismo. Seeing random pics of his car pop up on my FB page over the years just helped me that much more on eventually getting one. And one last thing, since I started driving in '93, I've had 13 different vehicles. Out of all of them, only one was an automatic which I owned for exactly one month (what a POS), and five of them were FWD. All of the others have been RWD. This Z makes this my 14th vehicle, and of course it's RWD and 6 speed... The way it should be. :driving::tup: |
