Instead of a car swap, what if they offered to use your car to diagnose the problem so they can issue a TSB? In the mean time they loan you another 370z.

That's not a reason to hold off. Find one that doesn't make the noise, and enjoy it. If it does make the noise, eventually if Nissan doesn't do something about it, it'll be a class-action lawsuit and make news.

Nissan doesn't want to lose rep like Toyota is now.

Yoyo kannibul,

Thing is this seems to be a widespread problem and on my test drive last week, myself and my girlfriend could indeed hear the noise.

The car only had 20kms on it and the noise was already there. If the noise got louder it would be unbearable and could indeed cause hearing damage, then i would be stuck with a $75,000 car that i could not drive.

Roos court case has already taken months, i can see this going on for 6 months

I'm going to test drive the car again soon, this time for a few days, i will get all of my friends etc to ride with me, see if they hear it.

I will actually try and record it, a friend at work is a sound engineer.

So yeah for me, its a good reason to hold off buying it as

1. I can already hear the noise on my first test drive of a car with only 20kms on it

2. the car is stupid expensive here thanks to our gov and i aint paying the cash to have ridiculous noises make the car undrivable

My dad has a Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG and my older brother a porsche 997 twin turbo, i get to drive their cars daily and there is no noise like this whatsoever. There are some beautiful mechanical noises but i love those

I am really open to this being solved tho and i do hope all the guys with this prob do get it fixed up, i can't see this happening anytime soon tho

Take the dough and run! Between lawyers' fees and hassles, you'll be going thru' a bitter turmoil. In the end, you may or may not win; remember: corporations have mean batteries of lawyers who sometimes actually know the judges in their area.

Folks just don't remember when things go right - but every boo-boo will go down in history to be quoted forever.

That said, as an engineer, one must investigate each one to determine whether it's indicative of a larger problem or not. So, by all means tell Nissan about your problems, but don't condemn them if they don't immediately issue a TSB based upon your complaint.

And one other suggestion - Don't base your buying decisions on what you read in all these forums alone. You'll never buy anything. (Also note that 99% of 370Z owners don't even know these forums exist. )

Don't tell me you're insinuating that the internet could be wrong about something???

I think the intensity varies either by car or by an individual's own personal hearing.

Is it worth it to hire a lawyer for this minor problem though? Most of the time youre going to lose money with attorney fees and all that junk. Not to mention, the time.

Probably writing Nissan of NA could help and let them know about the issue(s).

In my case I already talk to the Store Manager, Service manager and General Manager of the dealer. Now I writing Nissan Co. about the freaking holes on the bumper that by their instructions most of the delaer do to the cars with front state license plates.

For him tho it aint no minor problem, for him the problem has made the car undrivable, giving him severe headaches etc

So i believe he has every right to take legal action

I would love to fight about the hatch not opening, however, whenever I take it to the dealer, it always works perfectly!!

Before all of you hollering about taking Nissan to court get too hot and heavy, you need to take a look at this (if you haven't already found it by mistake):

Nissan Computer Corporation

Basically, Nissan has made life hell for this site owner for years and years now in court. And then there's the story of how they with a local government had land taken away from homeowners under a revised "imminent domain" law so that Nissan could build a factory.
