WOW just got told off by a dealer

A simple middle finger salute to the douchebag as you walked out would have been appropriate.

Age doesn't really matter. Some dealers are just @$$es. I went to a dealer here in Orlando ready to buy and they wouldn't budge off of msrp so you better believe after letting them know I would be back, I drove back to that dealer in my brand new Z and let them have it. The salesman was try to sell someone else on a Z and acted like he didn't remember me from the day before. When he asked me if I needed help, I let the customer know where to get good customer svc. I cannot stand such terrible customer service!

A dealership did this to me when I was buying my motorcycle. I was 21 and they wouldn't give me the time of day, they barely took $300 off of MSRP. They figured I was too young to be able to afford the bike. I just pulled the money out of my pocket and held it as I waved goodbye. Went to a different dealership 45 mins away and got it for the price I originally wanted. Paid 100% in cash... whoops... guess they ****** that up..

Haha. Glad I gave you guys a good laugh. I was right down the street (actually about 10 min away) and couldn't resist! When they told me that "no one is discounting these cars" they left me with no choice!

I dont know if the guy was having a bad day but I just thought that was wierd is that a new thing dealers are doing to sell cars...

O and i was dressed nice not like a bum looking to drive a cool car and leave...
Happened to me the first place I went. That kind of business practice will eventually catch up to them. Take your money elsewhere.

retail is difficult because customers are pretty demanding and a lot of sales
people turn into trolls after a few encounters with such arsehole customers.
they tend to forget they can't just stereotype a customer as being bad.

(im kinda tired from work so hope you dont mind me blabbing off... read on.
im known as an official blogger at another car forum...)

i literally buy a new car every year and im usually treated very well. i dont dress for
it or anything. i am not young but i dont appear rich either.

im open to play their game a little and have them like me first. put them in their little
comfort zone and then reel them into a deal. business is a psychological game really.
you give some, you pull harder. you give some more, pull a bit harder.

if i was in the OP's position and if i was serious about buying a z, i would've just walked
in and gave them the info they wanted. that shows the dealer you are a potential
candidate and will give them the benefit of the doubt that you will buy from them.

while taking the test drive, talk to him about pricing and what incentives they have.
dont tell him you like the car too much...tell him about all the areas that you dont
really care for. just tell him that it feels pretty good, but not perfect.

the sales guy will say he can work out something to make it feel perfect. so now
he's now playing your game.

after the test drive he will ask you to walk in again to talk some numbers. if he did
well, you go with him to talk some numbers. if he was an idiot, you tell him the car
just doesn't feel that great and walk away. they will call you to follow up but
that's their job. just play along and they will leave you alone after a while.

be very clear what you want out of the deal AFTER the test drive. unless you
test drive it you have no real credibility in their minds. dont be scared to walk
out of a deal at any time. just remind them the car itself was not perfect
and need some time to think over the numbers. walk out. they might
give you want you want. they might not, but who cares, it's you that
is paying.

good luck and happy car shopping.

Idiots don't reserve their behavior only for the young. When I went in to see and test drive the 370 for the first time with my 18 yr. old son, you'd think we'd just been spotted on Americas' Most Wanted. From the manager on down, we were made to feel unworthy to be in the presence of the 370.
I drove 300 miles to another dealership and purchased my Z.

You sound intelligent and articulate, and also appear to be civil and level headed. I assume you have a decent job and can afford the Z or you would not have been there. If that is the case, I would have politely, in an intelligent and articulate manner, REAMED THEM A NEW A$$HOLE

Something like : "Sir let me explain something to you...... I am 25 years old and work for XXXXXXXXXXX. I am self suffcient, manage my money properly, and can easily afford this automobile. My beacon credit score is excellent. Now if you want to continue to insult me by assuming a 25 year old is incapable of having their act together, I CAN carry my business elsewhere, but I did want to by local and do my part to stimulate the economy in the community I live in...... your call, you wanna work with me here or do I need to go elsewhere?"

I hate it when people make sweeping generalizations about something, instead of looking at the case at hand. Everything about you from your post says you had your act together, it's a shame you were treated this way.

The dealership treated me a little weird because of my age. When they found out my income, they tried to sell me the GTR. Things change once their stereotype gets blown to bits.
