It happened to me when I was going to buy my 07 "drifiddyzed" in a dealer in Orlando, yes, by Semoran Blvd ( I am not going to promote them, but anyway, they are the only one by Semora....) . I've read some guy in the forum talking inquires about them. At that time, I was 22 recently civil engineer grad student, doing a masters in Engineering Management, with and Audi A4. I was getting rid of my A4 (it was an 04). I went with my college student apparel and I was treated in a crappy way, they didnt want me to even sit on the car because it was on showroom.... I could get a test drive, at that moment they were "giving me an offer" and ask me if I was going to give a trade in or a down payment, I told them to both, no [waiting for the best offer, frooooooooom them as they are negotiating with a "potential buyer" ( i guess that's the way they should think, right?)] and they told me that no matter the offer they gave me, I couldn't afford to get it with no down payment.... riiiight ( how can you support your hypothesis?) And yes, it was the Manager at the moment.... As soon I saw no flexibility, (everything went in a descent manner) I went to another dealer SAME DAY, by Orange Blossom Trail, in Orlando Fl, and tan tannnnnnnnnnn, best service EVER as they always do, that's my experience. That was on Sunday night, I remember that day because it was also the Super Bowl :). On monday, I went to the acid dealer and ask to the manager, WHERE IS THE PARTS AND SERVICE AREA??????? on my new 07 350z with less than 50 miles on it. He began to argue with me that he didnt know that I was going to trade and give 6K of down, bla bla bla, I told him back, you know, I didnt came here to argue about my new 350z, I was trying to get an offer that you were to be supposed to negotiate it with me, I went to Universal Nissan and bough my new ( that was the key word NEW NEW NEW) 07 350Z :tiphat: You know what stupid question he said to me? Are you sure that car wasn't crashed? It's not damaged? Because here we have the best Z's.... What an moron, idiot, whatever..... He's no longer working there, don't know why. :owned: |
Idiots don't reserve their behavior only for the young. When I went in to see and test drive the 370 for the first time with my 18 yr. old son, you'd think we'd just been spotted on Americas' Most Wanted. From the manager on down, we were made to feel unworthy to be in the presence of the 370.
I drove 300 miles to another dealership and purchased my Z. |

Something like : "Sir let me explain something to you...... I am 25 years old and work for XXXXXXXXXXX. I am self suffcient, manage my money properly, and can easily afford this automobile. My beacon credit score is excellent. Now if you want to continue to insult me by assuming a 25 year old is incapable of having their act together, I CAN carry my business elsewhere, but I did want to by local and do my part to stimulate the economy in the community I live in...... your call, you wanna work with me here or do I need to go elsewhere?" I hate it when people make sweeping generalizations about something, instead of looking at the case at hand. Everything about you from your post says you had your act together, it's a shame you were treated this way. John |

dealer is just jealous he is all dried up, haaaaa:eekdance: |
i actually went to that dealership (windsor nissan nj) to look at a used 350z. the salesman backed it off a curb so i obviously didnt get that. most of their cars are auction cars. so i went to the other local nissan dealer and bought a new 370. definately a much better buy :)

8 years ago, i was shopping for cars and couldn't believe that most dealers knew nothing, and weren't nice, so I got into the business and have done quite well for myself. The biggest reason I do well is because so much of my competition just doesn't know how to treat customers.
Sorry it happened to you, but it will feel good when you find the right dealer. Calling Nissan or the GM won't get you any satisfaction, but might get that salesman/manager in trouble. Just get yourself the satisfaction of geeting a good deal at a good dealership! |

How does an 18 yro manage that considering your credit doesn't get establish for another 2 yrs? I'm confused... Possibilities: 1. Rich parent (Very likely) 2. saved all his childhood money for a 370z (I doubt it) 3. Robbed a bank (Huge possibility) 4. A drug dealer (Maybe but I doubt a drug dealer would roll a 370z. Ova here drug dealer roll with huge tires with big shiny rims) |

I don't see that dealership winning any Nissan "Customer First" awards. :shakes head: |

The dealership treated me a little weird because of my age. When they found out my income, they tried to sell me the GTR. Things change once their stereotype gets blown to bits. |

I believe you were terribly mistreated. The thing I would do in this kind of situation is leave a bad review of that dealership in the BBB, city search, and Consumer Affairs websites. Let the world know how badly you were treated. That way less buyers will go to that bad dealership and they go out of business for treating their customers poorly and the problem then takes care of itself. Then when it is your chance to buy a 370Z, look up on the BBB website first to find out which ones in your area are the best and buy it from them. That is Capitalism. You are voting with your dollars. |

Lol. I had almost the exact opposite reaction to the dealerships i visited. I am 18 years old and I had to fend the salesmen off about me driving the car (already test drove the 370z 2 times as I shoped around dealerships). I chose the dealer that gave me the least amount of bs, they set me a very nice price with no haggling required.

A few thoughts.
First, the dealer was in the wrong when they wouldn't even allow the OP to take a look inside. When I was window shopping for a 370Z at the Autobarn in Evanston, IL, they had a few Z's sitting around on the show-room floor and none of the salespeople had any qualms with me opening the door and sitting in a Z, even though they had the key sitting in the dashboard (Kinda odd that they would leave the key laying around like that). Anyway, a salesperson walks over and asks me if I have any questions and I say that I'm only window shopping, but he still offers to give me a test drive anyway. It was late and I didn't what to waste their time or hear their sales pitch so I took a pass. Same thing happened when I took a visit to Grossinger Autoplex in Lincon Park. I walked in and sat in a brand new Camaro SS and starting monkeying with the stereo, power-seats, sunroof, etc... (they also had the igninition key on the dash) and nobody said a word. I was in the car for a good 20 minutes and none of the salespeople said a peep. I guess it all depends on the dealership. Martin |

I've had this type of thing happen a few times in the past. I've been working since I was 13 (26 now) and have always been buying things a little "before my time" I guess you would say.
Thankfully I didn't have this experience when I went to purchase my 370z. I walked into the showroom (where they had 1 370, none outsite) a salesman walked up to me and asked if I liked the car. I looked around and asked how we get this car outside, he asked if I was talking about a test drive, I said no, I want to buy it. Between the sales rep and the manager they were practically begging me to drive the car, I just politely asked them to get it outside and shine it up before we were done with my paperwork. I also think the people at the dealership I went to are pretty friendly. I've been back there several times for service or just to check out what else they have and the salesman have treated me nicely every time. -William |

Incidentally, this dealership has a lawsuit on them now from 2 days ago (fish around for my post titled Smithtown NY Nissan lawsuit or something put up 2 days back). Filthy people, filthy treatment. I went there 3 times, the third time with my girlfriend and the guy just wouldn't talk respectfully. Some 24 yr old brown people have good careers you know. Specially the nerdy ones lol. |
I'd like to add though, my 4th visit I met their guy Dustin Callendar (African American, and known to be the Z guy at that dealership - everyone kept telling me about him but he was never around during my first 3 visits). And he is very straightforward and smart to deal with. But that doesn't change whats going on with their lawsuit though.
