No worries.... Some GTR owners do upgrade to carbon ceramic brakes hence the $8-10K brakes, but the good thing about CCB are they basically last for a life time unless you track the car a lot.

Well that makes sense. A $100K car that can do what a car that's double in price can do. If you're going to get a supercar for 1/2 a Ferrari, then the maintenance costs should be about the same.

Porsche 2008 911 GT3 ($80K used) or C7 new. These are probably not as expensive to maintain since they're both NA. I was about to get a GT3 used.

The C7 probably wouldn't be but I bet the GT3 wouldn't be cheap to maintain either.

I will be crossing off the possible trade idea from Z to GTR, for now. Maintenance is a freaking killer for sure.

What you going to do when you get tired of the gtr? Pretty sure didn't expect the 370 to sit in garage when you bought it.

What does your wife drive btw?

whoh, I totally forgot about this post, been busy being a dad and going to work etc lol. For an update, Deland Nissan who all the local Z guys use to have their cars checked up on told me to buy a '13 plus to not deal with many of those issues. Even if I drive every single day to work in just one car Its only about 6k miles per year on any of my cars. Insurance has already been checked up on, 106 per month from progressive (4 cars on it, motorcycle policy as well, home owners, married etc). Another thing I read a lot is what about the family stuff, wife has Hyundai SUV and is looking at a bigger nissan Pathfinder so family trips are well covered already. I still have 2 hondas that I have had for years for flipping between daily drivers. Until my son was born, I literally rode my motorcycle to work 5 days a week and watched the dust pile up on my Z. Maintenance will actually be a lot less due to all of these things stated previously.

Thank you again for all of the info, only time will tell now, we want to wait 3 months to get a big enough down payment and then I will weigh the decision to sell my Z at that point if I am still set on the GTR.

Slight power bump over a Z but its pretty much the same car even down to the nav setup.

I'm in a similar situation. I've considered the GTR as I would like the option of driving my daughter around in 'the fun car', but they are just too common around here (which is OK) and I feel as if the prices are too inflated on the used market. For now I'm keeping my Z. I've actually grown to like my alone time in it since I can't take anyone. Granted I can't be out hooning for too long any more but I find coming home after drive relaxes me. Since you have bikes and and seem to get more enjoyment from them and have a daily, why not just sell the Z and pocket the money?

Regardless sounds like you've made up your mind on the switch though so best of luck! 13+ is definitely your best bet.

They are ridiculously common, at least around here. A normal Sunday cars and coffee around here will yield at least 5-10 GTRs out of like 20-30cars. While not corvette levels they are far from 'rare' and there's enough around me that I don't really pay attention unless it's noticeably modified.

It's not a bad thing, the performance you can get is unreal, I think they just lost that 'specialness' it had back in 2009. Back then I would literally break my neck when a stock one drove by. Now it's just another GTR.
