Car got rear ended!

So driving to work this morning, woke up pretty refreshed, one of those slow mornings (which I love) i was listening to music and stopped to some traffic, and BAM out of nowhere I got REAR ended by another car, his windshield is cracked and bumper is ****** up,

my bumper comes out miraculously with some of the bumper itself shaved off (the pu plastic I think) and paint. It's down to the base so I can't just buff it out.

The BAD news. I snagged a photoshoot on June 1st with one of the guys from Varrstoen Khang, to rep their new line or version of wheels (not sure) the ES2 or ES9, and I was excited! since I got a message back from him yesterday.
Free or discounted wheels on my side, and I was excited, wheels and tires where next on my list!

Long story short, everything is coming out to be very ironic.

I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to get it fixed by then by the insurance, I got a claim and everything from the other party,
only thing is, I need to get an inspection done to get damages fixed.

It's not a matter of respraying since a bit of the bumper is cut off,

but do you think I can try and get the shop to try and get me a Nismo rear bumper? :roflpuke2:
most likely not huh? never been in a crash so I don't know what to expect.
Any tips? I'm located in SoCal if that helps

Thanks for listening on my rant!

Here's some pictures of my car a couple days ago and last night, prepping.

and the crash, the bumper itself was miraculously strong tbh, the guy flew at me.. i kind of feel bad for his car LOL..
mine felt like a tank

Glad you are fine, but damn did his passenger eat the windshield without seatbelt:eek:

Damn...sorry to hear man. Good thing you're okay. These polyurethane bumper can absorb some impact for sure. If you're in need of a nismo bumper I have one with the required hardware. I plan on using when someone rear end me but it's just sitting around at the moment.

I think his hood flew back and hit his windshield,
And thanks, I'll mssg you if I need it! I might try and see if the shop is willing to get me one through insurance

In my experience, the normal way things go with insurance and shops are usually the following:

Insurance tells you to get a quote from a body shop.
Body shop gives you quote
You give Insurance the quote
Insurance either pays you for the price of the quote, or you get it repaired by the bodyshop and they pay the bodyshop.

Assuming you have the same choices I did, it sounds like you may benefit from getting the payout and just getting the Nismo Bumper installed and painted. Now I don't know if you'll get enough for everything, so you may have some out-of-pocket costs.

The drawback is that you'll have to wait for them to pay you out. OR, if you know exactly how much you're getting from them, you can front the money first and get it fixed for your shoot. Good luck.

Let me know if the insurance companies try jerking you around any. I'm over at State Farm as a Multi-Line sales and service rep. If you want to make sure what they are telling you is true or want to double check things against rules/regulations set by the Department of Insurance for CA, I can help you out as much as possible.

Sorry for the loss and hope that things are taking care of in a fast manner so you are able to hit that photoshoot. It is roughly 11days before and can be plenty of time to have damages fixed. Maybe talk to Varrstoen Khang and see if it can be postponed a couple days possibly. Just due to mechanical issues. I do not know if telling them that your Z got rear ended would change whether or not they want to do the photoshoot with your Z.

wow thanks for that! I'll let you know if anything comes up!

Just wondering, there is a sharp hole on the bumper, it's not fully pierced through, and the side where the tabs are are pulled (bent) a little, do you think they'll just try and paint over it or replace it?

I was hoping in the process I could grab a Nismo rear bumper, I couldn't find how much OEM would go for but I found that Nismo's on Z1 are about 500ish with tax and everything,
the thing is I would get a better pricing with "affiliated" body shops rather than to receive a check (I would pay the difference if the nismo is WAY more expensive, unless the bodyshop can hook it up :rofl2:, what would you recommend I do?

So sorry to hear OP, glad you're fine though. If you plan on going the Nismo route, why not just go all the way?

Ugg, bad memories.

Thank you! I would love to get a front nismo as well, but I'm still in college and I couldn't afford a front nismo, paint and the 800 a piece fog lights lol...

Plus I'm wanting to save for coilovers, wheels/tires, clutch/flywheel/hd csc/master cylinder, and I'm happy with the front setup I have now :D

and get eagle fog lights as this gentleman did

Airbags always break the windshield when they deploy.
