Not arguing on the halo car subject, more pointing out that the 370Z garners anything but "laughter and eye rolling" when equipped properly and driven properly and if you dont know who steven doherty is just google his name and doran racing

Yes, I understand how Google works. But to be honest, I don't care enough. Race cars and race car drivers have nothing to do with my life, or the cars that I drive. Like the vast majority of car buyers, I want my car to come out of the box ready to drive the way I want it. I don't want to spend time, money, and frustration on the project. Tinkering with cars is not my hobby, and I especially don't want the headaches I see reflected on this forum every single day. I doubt that that is a unique perspective, hence my extreme skepticism about the "halo" effect.

Yes sir!!!!! Electronic E brakes are worthless pieces of shyt. I like this 435I review. He nailed on the head as to what the problem is with new cars vs cars like our Z's. Now I know I'm not the only one. I was beginning to think I was crazy... lol. https://youtu.be/pTrlt_4yV4I

Corvettes, need chronic maintenance and have reliability issue. Especially with in house super charging. Hellcat, challenger quality control issues. Audi and Porsche.... electronic cars that practically drive for you. Lambs and Porsche... unreliable. I mean everything has a drawback. The camaro, is the best affordable car right now dollar for dollar. But it's huge, you can't see out of it. Numb steering and I'll take the Pepsi challenge on reliability on supercharged versions. I understand the Z is something you're upset hasn't evolved as much as here.... You prolly been driving your Z n want something more. . But in my case. I can't dismiss the high points of the Z till I find "something that can hit the senses like the Z. Very few cars hit the senses today without buying an exotic. Jaguar F-Type MB amg GTS Nissan GT-R NISSAN 370Z. Everything else has taken technology to the point where driving is a numb experience. But you're going faster. I guess it's all perspective.

the way you're looking at it, every car is unreliable then.
the more a car gets "advanced" technology the more it can have things go wrong on it. f cars, get a bicycle. this might solve the obesity problem too.

The main attraction of the Z for me is its cost. If I wanted performance with minimal regard to cost and without regard to practicality there are about a half-dozen other performance vehicles I'd get over a 370Z, but I can't see the utility of spending the considerably greater amount of money on a performance car like a GT-R or Stingray, both of which I've seriously considered, that would sit in my garage 5 months out of the year. IOW, I would much rather buy performance and I have no interest whatsoever in bolting it on. So until I decide to bite the bullet and pop for something than makes my insurance guy roll his eyes, the factory stock 370Z works well for me. It's a great compromise. I don't mean to disparage you Tunerz in this thread and I'm sorry to gore your ox. I don't want to mod my Z, I don't want to race it, and I don't know or care who Steven Doherty is. What my car "can be turned into" doesn't interest me in the slightest. I'm interested in how it works out of the box compared to how much it costs and where I can get it worked on. Yeah, sorry...I coudn't get through all that. I kept drifting off. I do note your passion, however. Anyway, you've missed the point. I share your enthusiasm for the 370Z, and the fact that It's an 8 year old platform doesn't bother me in the slightest. It was a 6 year old platform when I bought my second one. I had no illusions about what I was buying, and I agree with you about enjoyment per dollar. What you didn't like was disputing your "halo" car theory. We disagree on the contribution that the Z makes toward Nissan's reputation. We don't disagree on the merits of the car. I'm a fan, and I'm looking forward to the Z35. |
