How do you think the 370Z will age???

The 300ZX looks like it could still be sitting on dealer lots today, from the outside at least, easily one of the most beautiful cars ever made (my opinion but well shared).

I remember the 1st time I saw a 350Z, I was just 21 back in fall 2002 and I was blown away, I felt like I had just seen an exotic but flash forward 7 years and the car just looks REALLY dated, I owned one just a few yrs ago.

to me the 370Z is what the 350Z should have been but w/o the 350Z reviving the legendary "Z" name, we wouldn't have this beautiful car.

It's tough to say but I think the 350Z will be forgotten as just a "middleman" in the Z series but I think the 370Z will go down as a true classic.

JakeZ34 11-18-2009 10:38 PM

I will agree with you on the 300ZX looks amazing even today, and so far after owning the 350Z and the 370Z I can tell you, no one has forgotten about the 350Z, atleast the people that doesn't really follow up on the Z cars, I get people still asking me if that's the "2009/2010" model of the 350Z. And I actually have to explain that it's no longer a 350 but a 370. I think soon people will see the 350 as a history car such as the 300ZX because the 08 was the last generations of those. Atleast I hope it'll go down as an iconic Z33 rather than just a middleman between the Z32 and Z34.

frost 11-18-2009 10:39 PM

Not sure I agree on the 300ZX, I think it's a great looking car and all, but it's time has passed. Anyway, I don't think the 370 will age any better or worse than any other car. I don't think the 350 looks dated yet, so hopefully we have a good 10 year run on the 370 before it starts to look old.

not to mention Toyota Prius Gen 3 has adapted the "barbed" headlight looks lol

dad 11-18-2009 10:47 PM

I don't think "old" is the word to use, when they loose their "appeal", then there is no longer the desire. I still like the 350.

Red370 11-18-2009 11:36 PM

I'll be honest though, after owning the 370, the A$$ end of the 350 looks way too long, anyone else think that? I agree, the 300 looks its age, nice car, great engine, but I dont think its kept its visual appeal. The 370 will be a great looking car 10 years down the road, I just hope nobody copies the shape and styling.

NewlyIMPORTed 11-18-2009 11:44 PM

i still look at the 300 when i see one i think they look amazing from the front. and yeah people who dont pay attention to the car always say whats the difference? looks the same as the 350. then i have to go through all the key points haha idk i think that all z's are beautiful to their owners and they will always be a head turner

Supergoji 11-19-2009 12:26 AM

people still don't believe me when i tell them my 300zx is a 1990. they think it's a 2005 or somthing.

with some nice nismo wheels, and the 99 updatess would do nicely.

not to mention it's still easily the fastest Z ever made once you get rid of the extremely restrictive intake and exhaust. 450whp is achieveable on the stock turbos with pump.

i do think the 370 will age well over the 350.

cab83_750 11-19-2009 12:54 AM

IMHO the last real Z was the 280z. It was the last one looking like the old Ferrari. I thought it would never age. But the 370, much like the 280, will be just another car in 4 years

better yet much like your wife, after some years...... :)

blue660r01 11-19-2009 01:17 AM

I really dont get how you think the 350 looks more outdated than the 300zx lol

Just like my car, I plan on trading in every 4 years for a new one.

cave vulture 11-19-2009 02:06 AM

If sales don't improve, 2012 could be the end of the 370Z. I.M.O.

The 300ZX is/was a beautiful car. There is a black one in the showroom of one of the local dealers, all tricked out with Stillen mods. Gorgeous!

The 350Z? Reminds me a litle of the 300ZX, especially the slope from the C-pillar to the tail.

The 370Z? An iconic design that looks like a cross between a 350Z and a 911, imho. How has the 911 aged? I expect the 370 design to be around for quite a while, and I don't think it will ever "look old".

Headlghts on the Lexus LF-A have a 370Z-ish look to them, btw. A design standard is born.

No offense, but this makes no sense. How can you state that a 280Z looks like an old Ferrari and then state that a 370Z will be "just another car in 4 years"? :icon14: A 370Z looks like a new Ferrari! :icon17:

I'll leave the issue about my wife's looks alone. Heh heh.

Just make sure the new one knows how to exploit that "shift knob vibration". That is a talent not easily duplicated.

I agree with all of what u said and i hope you're right about the 370Z, its a beautiful F'n car. I learned to drive a manual in a 240 and loved the Z ever since. if it ages well or not i'm keeping mine.:happydance:

I know right, I went on a date with this girl a couple weeks ago and when I picked her up, she saw the 370Z book on my floor and asked if I was getting a new car. I said eventually, and she responded "what is this one a 2005?"

no lie, I did have the 99 upgrades on it as well

I think the paint will fall off...

KillerBee370 11-19-2009 09:29 AM

It will age just the same as every other revving mass of metal, plastic & rubber.

Personally, I think a 300Z (as beautiful as it is) looks dated. I think the 350Z looks slightly less so. In time the 370Z will follow suit and I will no doubt be looking in a new direction. I mean hey, when I see an F40 (as awesome as it is) I can't help but chuckle a little at the terribly dated Radio Shack dash & Halogen headlights.

Endgame 11-19-2009 10:04 AM

When I see a regular 350z, it looks dated. If the 350 is modded some (suspension, wheel, sometimes a light kit) it look pretty nice still. I saw a 350z lowered, wheel upgrade, and a Nismo spoiler a few weeks back; it looked OUTSTANDING!! Made me do a triple take.

I think the 370z will age better than the 350 only because of the headlights/tailights and those darn wide fenders. It reall does look more like a porsche, but with a Nissan/Japanese spin on it. The shortness of the body combines with those other features make it look great! Not to mention the C pillar; acutally the C pillar with those wide fenders = stunning. Lightly modded (front lip, wheels, suspension) and you have a killer.

It is like looking at a VERY nicely modded and maintained S30. W O W. Breathtaking when it rolls up with wide fenders and modded wheels and suspension. Picking up what I'm laying down?

Maybe she just doesnt believe that someone would still be driving such an old car?? I kid I kid!!!!

I dont agree that the 300 still looks new, I mean its a great car, but doesnt really stand out nor look better then a 350z.

The 350z and 370z will probably age well, b/c of their basically body shape styles that for the most part were ahead of their time.

j.arnaldo 11-19-2009 01:42 PM

Bottomline: If we enjoy our cars, we don't have to worry about it going outmoded.

elmz 11-19-2009 02:20 PM

I agree the 300zx is pretty iconic and will probably stand the test of time more than the 350Z and 370Z. But the 350Z IMHO is what revived the Z car. I think the 350 had the sleek look of the 300 with a modern touch. I also used to the think the rear end of the 350 was a bit too long from some angles, but I think its a beautiful car. I owned a 350 for 4.5 years and traded it in for the 370. I think they took the same formula as before, the 370 has the sleek look of the 350 with a now more modern touch. But no matter how you slice it the daddy will always be the 240 and that is where everything came from.

SlikNik 11-19-2009 02:29 PM

The 370 will stay looking the ballz until the 400Z comes out:tup:

FricFrac 11-19-2009 04:24 PM

The 300ZX is an icon. It does look still to this day every part a modern car and has truely stood the test of time. That being said I don't think it looks nearly as curvacious as the 350Z and no where near as as curvy as the 370Z. It truely is an amazing vehicle. Still highly sought after even by people who weren't even born when it came out ;)

The 370Z is an outstanding Z car in both form and function and on that alone it will stand the test of time. Who knows what design ques cars ten or twenty years from now will take - the 370Z may follow those lines or cars may look like boxes by then. Regardless the 370Z has what it takes to be outstanding now and that's unlikely to change in the future.

jdubs 11-20-2009 11:41 AM

The 300zx has definitely defied time and stayed fresh over the years.

People still attempt to buy my 1994 TT in traffic and I have the '99 taillights, but that is all for cosmetic. They never guess how old it is.

The 370z is growing on me and I think it will overshadown the 350z as long as it is reliable. The 370z is a better choice today for someone who is not quite and enthusiast, but wants a nice z car. The 300zx at this age just demands more attention than the regular person will give it so it will forever live on with the older, enthusiast crowd.

I should know as mine has 43K and I have replaced the timing belt, injectors and clutch, but it runs perfect now at stage III.
