No test drive for me
Well went to the local nissan today and they said only if I fill out paper work and are planning on buying. So I told him I'll be in the market sometime in jan. I waited for 15mins since he said he will get someone to give me a tour of the z Don't know why since all they have is a '10 vert. So he gave me an appointment to come in on sat at 10am since they are getting two coupe in on friday. I did get to drool at the vert sport/touring 7spd BS, going for 41k . They even ran out of brochures!!!

The best dealerships are the ones that treat their customers well always in both good times and bad times. When a new car like this shows up the courteous thing for the dealership to do is offer a car that is a "demonstration model". That way miles don't pile up on other Nissan Z's that someone else is gonna buy. For them to say, "No test drive unless you fill out paperwork and we run your credit score" is like a slap in the face in my opinion. Dealerships should be "cultivating a clientele". Instead many of them love to penny pinch every which way and offer substandard service just to buy the car. Imagine how much worse it's going to be once you need them to do warrantee work. Right now the best dealerships for best customer service are Lexus. The worst being Toyota and Chevrolet. According to consumer reports. I say, before shopping for a car. Shop for the right dealership. Make sure they have a good reputation with the BBB, consumer affairs, and so on. Worst case scenario for me was with Chrysler and their long awaited Dodge Challenger. They wouldn't even unlock the car to look inside unless you put down money on the car! Why should I ever buy anything from Chrysler if they treat customers like common criminals? No respect! None whatsoever. No wonder they went bankrupt. They are terrible. Last edited by avitech; 11-18-2009 at 04:50 PM. |

nope 22 maybe I should have shaved and thrown on a monkey suit. But then again that would be considered discrimination if they considered my age as a factor, hell they could have just gotten my license and checked out my clean driving record. Besides its not like I was going to do this :

I think age did play some roll in it but I would get one from another lot then go back and say your loss dude and let the manager know what happened.

+1 find the next Nissan dealer on the block. Here's what should happen: 1. You hang around a z 2. Greeter asks you if u want to talk to someone 3. u say u want base, they have u test drive an upgrade - u feel cool, they hope to upsell 4. U say thx, be back in Jan, I like [insert color here] 5. They have a loyal customer and sell u the gt-r when the day comes to cash out your 401k (you're young, the market will cycle by then) |

Walk away from them. A couple of tips. Walk in with confidence. Be polite but be upfront. As soon as there is a wait more than 2 min. Start to walk out. Trust me, they won't let u go. And wen they run the story bout they need ya paperwork. U tell em " I'm not runnin u info till I know this is the vehicle I want for sure, and to know that. I need a test drive" one of 2 things will happen. They will stick by there guns or suddenly have a change in policy. If they stick. U walk. If not? U drive. The more confident u r the more they cooperate. Volume dealers are the worse. Its always politics and long waits. And since salesguys make a short commission. They have to run interest rate schemes, short bidding your trades and making u buy @ or above msrp. They mainly only cut u deals on demo's and cars sittin there 45 days or more. They r also known for not making u aware of rebates. And there's no advertised rebates on Z's so u might want to check the internet and check to see if there's any dealerships offering rebates on Z? If there are. Call them n find out if there rebate is in house or corporate. That way when u walk into a dealership. U can put it on blast that u kno bout the rebate after u make ur deal. That way, they gotta cut off from up top on the negotiated price n not on the price they want. That's my advice. Hope if its of some use. |
