Turn on the car and press the door lock button while the door is open. It should lock and then unlock by itself right away. Just goes to show the ones that said it will lock are wrong. Even my G35 that uses a key does that.

Back on topic, I let my car run while locked, keeping the key in my pocket the whole time.
Unlock door. Turn it on. Exit car. Shut door. Press door lock button. Watch the car from the inside all nice and warm. ..it's pretty straightforward.

I use to do a little magic trick with my 08 Altima. I would lock all the doors, pop the trunk toss the key fob in the trunk and shut the trunk. The trunk would pop it self open and beep kind of like saying "hay dope, what are you doing"

This thread is full of lulz.
I personally don't let the car idle that long, I don't like leaving the car unattended while it idles, and like someone else stated, you shouldn't let it idle for that long. It's not good for the car or environment.

Why does it hurt the car? I let it idle so the windows defrost and so I am not shivering while trying to drive.
Isn't it worse for the car to track it? And worse for the environment?
