Interesting read on Oil Consumption

Found this reading the news online. Since some here have had the problem. Hopefully this will explain on what the cause is.

Shop Class: Exploring The Causes of Excessive Oil Consumption

Interesting read. I think it's ridiculous that high end cars like BMW and Audi think that this is normal, and that you should top off burned oil on every tankful.

Didn't read anything about Nissan so I guess that's a good thing 😎

I had a 2014 WRX that I purchased brand new. Followed the recommended break in process. It was burning about 0.5quart of oil every 3500 miles. The dealer said that was normal. I told them I never had a car that eats oil even when they are older let alone a brand new car. I eventually sold it and purchased a 2014 370z. I wished I had test drove the Z first.

my STI is new and it burned about 1/4 quart so far. its written in the manual to check and add oil.

my Z and G were the same way until about 15000 miles and it stopped burning oil since.

I have 10k on my 2016 Z,it burned 3/4 of a quart per 5k oil change.Hope this is normal and possibly will get better.

These are not THATTTT bad... Also, dvboy, the Z takes 5.125 - 5 1/8 quarts of oil. So if you are only putting 5 when you change, you could think it's burning more than it really is
