people must be broke or not in love with the new 370Z?

its good to see that not everyone is jumping over to the dealers
to get the new Z as soon as it came out (no offense educ8r :icon17:)

finally the dealers will understand that putting a mark up will not
work this time around.

buyers market. The whole EPA bogus markup will not hold water in my area!!

Its purely the economy. A 2 seater sports car isn't a priority for people losing their jobs and 401Ks. I remember perusing the corvette forums when the Z06 was just released at a time when the economy was doing very well and dealers were marking it up $10K-20K with ample buyers.

Winter in the northern climates is not exactly a prime sales time for RWD 2 seat sportscars either.

The sales slump continues to mean good deals for consumers. Aaron Bragman, automotive marketing research analyst for IHS Global Insight in Troy, Mich., said large incentives such as zero-percent financing and rebates will continue well into 2009 as automakers try everything they can to boost sales

Toyota said it sold 141,949 vehicles in December, down from 224,399 a year earlier. Sales of the Prius hybrid dropped 45 percent as gas prices fell from their record highs in July.

Honda sold 86,085 vehicles last month, down from 131,792 a year earlier but up from 76,233 in November. Nissan. The month-over-month improvement was a trend seen by most automakers.

Nissan sold 62,102 vehicles — including Infiniti models — in the U.S. compared with 89,555 in December 2007. For 2008, Nissan U.S. sales dropped 11 percent.

Sirploppy brought up a good point about many people in colder areas wouldn't really have any incentive to buy a RWD sport coupe until it warms up. You also have to figure in people like me, I haven't jumped on one yet because I don't buy cars from the dealer's lot anymore. I'll probably order mine from the factory in a month or so and won't expect it to be built and ready for me until March or April. There is certainly no rush to buy for someone who likes to order from the factory.

I know for me, a lot of the dealers aren't bothering to get a few 370z's unless they absolutely need to.

Kind of hard to sell cars when you don't have at least one car on the lot to test drive.

Check out the abundance of 2008 350's & Nismo's that have gone unsold.
