370z DD?

Hello everyone. I don't have a 370 yet, but I'm strongly considering one for my next DD. Current DD is a 95 Nissan Hardbody V6 5mt. Running strong with 214k.

Default 370z DD?

Hello everyone.
I don't have a 370 yet, but I'm strongly considering one for my next DD.
Current DD is a 95 Nissan Hardbody V6 5mt. Running strong with 214k.
Other ride is a 13 Titan Crew Cab.

The Titan will remain my wknd ride, but I've decided I need something sporty to help me enjoy my 90 mile round trip daily commute a little more. I know the 370 is not the most practical choice for that.

I feel the bang for the buck for a new base model is really good, and I can keep the manual trans. Was considering CPO G37 sedans before.

I know tire life isn't great, but with mostly hwy miles is it possible for me to get 30,000 miles out of a set of tires? The car won't be tracked. Also has Nissan made any changes at all to the CSC? I'm hoping if I buy a new 2016 or 2017 model I won't have to worry about that. Those are the biggest things I'm questioning at the moment.

Thanks for any feedback!

Go for it. I drive mine almost every day during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months. I have my 2014 Subaru for everything else. Granted, my commute is only 10 miles one-way, but I'd drive it 100 miles if I had to.

I'm pretty sure Nissan hasn't updated the CSC in the new models, so it's probably a ticking time-bomb like the rest of them. I haven't had a problem with mine yet...but I still have under 37k miles. I probably shouldn't have said that.

I think 30k out of a pair of tires is probably unrealistic..but if you get the right ones you might be able to live with the wear. Other members probably have a better idea about that than I do.. As far DD - even boosted, the Z is serving me very well as my DD!

1 year so far with the 370 with my DD and I've had no problems. Granted I've only put 6,000 miles on it in a year

I daily my car. New job is 51 miles away. So far, I've burned one set of tires, mostly due to an alignment issue. Other than that, several scrapes on the bottom, especially the front bumper, a dented hood, and several nicks and scratches from road debris. It comes down to what the road you are on is like.

I only regret the Z as a daily with the abuse it takes. And it would stay cleaner if it didn't have to be in rain and snow. But it gets decent gas milage, and I can have a little fun. But due to not wanting to put on 25k miles per year and the beating the paint is taking, I will be buying a hooptie by the end of the year.

Tires on the Z I've never gone more than 10k miles. Best bet for you if that's a concern is to get skinny wheels like the base wheels, which will allow you to get decent all seasons in a regular passenger car size. I've thought of that, also it would save me from bending one of my Vossens. Additionally, I have a set of base wheels that I have wrapped in Michelin snow tires for December through March.

I drive mine all year round in Calgary, even during winter months. Like Dirk said, it does take some abuse to the body, plus Nissan's paint isn't the best. Although, it's a car, its meant to be driven. Unless you want to keep it in pristine condition, I say go for it.

I DD mine. My only complaint is the thing is so damn loud inside. I'm in it around 2 hours everyday so that gets old.

Exhaust? Road noise is better in the Z than in my girl's Subie. Z gets better MPG, too.

Thanks for the replies.
I was just looking at tires online. Looks like Michelin offers some All Season tires with 45k warranties. Because I will pile the miles on it if I get it, it will definitely be a base model. I'm ok if I can get 30k or close to it out of a set of tires. Car will get about 24,000 miles a year, but I might keep my Hardbody, and let it share DD duties.

Road noise can't be much worse than my Hardbody lol!

When I first got my '12 Touring Sport 6-spd last year, the road noise was a concern on my test drive before actually buying it. It turned out the type of road surface made a huge difference. Then, I got a puncture in the sidewall of the right rear tire, so I had both original rear tires replaced with Continental Extreme Contacts on the stock 19" Rays. Even better now! I now have no complaints about road noise in the cabin, and I'm pretty hard to please that way.

I DD mine. I get 30-40k out of the fronts, 25-30k out of the rears.

Helps that I drive in a grid system in Phoenix.

...road noise is terrible in the Z though.

It's a big reason I want to get rid of it. Plus other reasons, but damn is it annoyingly difficult trying to talk to my GF in the car.

DD a Z is no big deal, I used mine for my work car and put on over 250,000 miles in 6 years. Tires, biggest thing is swap them side to side once and a while. The CSC is going to go, but is covered under warranty...so your good for a while.

Oh and get a clear bra on it.

Can't swap directional tires.

Only if you purchased the extended warranty, is the CSC covered after 3yrs/30,000mi.

Clear bra the entire front end. I did 1/3 hood and regret it. I should have clear bra'd the doors too. ******* rock-lined freeways.

depends on what tires you have... and how you drive.

10k miles out of my re11's on almost at the wear bars. fronts still pretty good.

I was hoping for a bit more but I realize it's because I accelerate fairly aggressively as i try launch myself to the speed limits... oh and take corners with a bit too much spirit. not drift. spirit.

my use is mostly weekend, road trips and occasional daily.

oh and boob... sometimes it's a good thing that it's too loud. other times it's like this:

gf: girlfriend mumbles...

me: WUT YOU SAY?

gf: mumbles....

me: YOU NEED TO SPEAK UP OR I AIN'T HEARING YOU! LIKE REALSIES

gf: I'M MAD AT YOU!!!!!
