i guess one issue i have with some low esteem miata drivers are they think they are being looked down on and drive around like arseholes around faster cars like the Z and my STI.
its like i dont care if ur little car is fast or slow vs my cars or looks like a pos (older gen). u enjoy ur car da way u want to and LEAVE ME OUT OF IT. i think the current mx5 looks pretty cool. it's definitely a fun looking car. |

I actually considered getting a new MX5 or a BRZ. But when you are built like a division II fullback, those exceptionally engineered vehicles just don't fit. |

Common sense bruh. But people don't see how texting n driving isn't dangerous either.... |

Ok.... An old a$$ division II fullback. |

but yah, those cars are kinda built for the smaller crowd for sure. |

I would say that comparing percentages, automatic and manual drivers crash just as much. It's a poor argument. |

Shift controls on the wheel (and really automatic/manuals that shift faster then a human) are for scraping those few tenths off a hot lap time: no one is disputing that. Most paddle shifters are in a fixed position which also prevents shifting while turning the car at the limits. Paddles serve zero purpose on the street in terms of making a car 'faster'. As for texting, sort of a tangent but I don't think anyone that is of sound mind would argue that either: texting is more dangerous then a drunk who is at least looking forward and attempting to control the car. Almost got hit the other day while jogging near my house by a house frau in an SUV. You know because you see the phone and the top of their heads instead of their eyes and hands :) - b |
Yah, I would NEVER shift while mid turn near the limits. Very dangerous. Better just bounce off the limiter.
|
The best is when you downshift from 3rd to 2nd at the apex of a turn at your car's limits and lose control :ugh2:

it makes me so happy to know this devolved into another AT/MT thread :)

Now if I were a gay man, I'd prefer the fun of taking it in a 4D spacial realm instead of just your typical in and out. 1/256th of a second faster or not. :roflpuke2: |
go the extra mile and get the miata AT. lol

FP can u drive an MT? like i mean really drive it heel and toe and all?
just wondering. cause next car im getting will be AT and yes i can drive MT. just a choice cause i dont want to ruin my expensive dress shoes. :p |

I haven't had to do it in awhile but it would surely come back. last MT I drove hard was in a E46 M3 competition model, short throw, coilovers, cage, etc.... it was a good bit of fun. I actually really liked it. was hoping to have a 03 911 turbo to play with soon but that fell through. :( |
do any of you guys(?) work for a living?:p

Another annoying feature on newer MT cars is hill brake assist. Faking feels like da car is going to stall.

Regarding texting, been a witness to numerous close calls. Sad thing is that most of these drivers were so involved texting or on their phone, they never realized how close they were to causing someone else, so much pain :shakes head: |

low self esteem is associated with the person, not the cars he/she owns. I am sure some Z owners have similar issues.

going uphill from a stop i just blip the throttle while im still holding the brake and engage the clutch. there is no fast moving feet. the only time i use e-brake is backing out of a down hill parking spot. but then u introduce hill assist braking, the faking brakes do not release when u want it to which can potentially cause a stall. :ugh: my STI has this feature i really dont need. |
Quote:
is the hill assist/brake assist on/off switch or always on? :shakes head: |
Forgot to mention immaturity as well.... so there you go. low self-esteem and immaturity. sounds familiar?
