Rapidly decreasing value?
Got on Autotrader for the heck of it to see what 370's are going for and how many are for sale.
1. Was really surprised by how many are for sale on there that aren't posted up here by private sellers. Pricing seems to be all over the place too. 2. Really surprised how many 40th's are for sale, that they aren't posted here, and especially the asking prices for them. When I bought mine there were like 2 in the whole country. Seems that since I bought my 40th last year people have been dropping their 40th like flies and letting them go for much less than what I paid. I understand that our cars have been passed up in many areas since 2009 and there is a small market for a 2 seater. One of my favorite features of the Z is the fact that it doesn't have all the bells and whisles that take the driver out of the equation. The rawness of this car is what make me love driving it so much. Your thoughts? |

I got a nice discount on my new left over 2014 back in September. I don't plan on ever replacing it or selling it so resale doesn't really matter to me. Honestly 40th Anniv. doesn't really matter much either. Harley's actually do a lot of Anniv. editions that it's way over done. Really if it isn't a 25th or 50th or 100th it really doesn't matter.

First you have to be careful buying used. IF the prices are real low it is for a reason. I am sure someone will buy my totaled Nismo and put it back on the road with a rebuilt title. Will it be fixed correctly. Most likely not. The frame acutally collapsed in on itself. I talked with the frame guy at the bodyshop and got the full scoop on what happened. It was nasty because I was hit hard. Insurance put the screws to me on the price because of crap like this on for sale 370z's.

Not worried at all about the reality of a car losing value, I'm not stupid enough to believe it was an investment. I'm just a little surprised how many people are dumping the car. I don't plan on getting rid of mine for a long time, it's paid for, but just noticing a trend and wanted to see if it's just me or does anyone else feel differently, that's all.

Was also surprised how many of these cars aren't posted here. I don't believe for a second that most of the cars aren't forum members. Probably figure we all have our car so why would we want another or they will get more money from non forum members.

The ratio of Z owners here in Austin is probably 5:1 non-forum members to forum members.

All these are great points! This is why I posted this up. I bought my car off of this site. It wasn't advertised anywhere else. I did pay a little more than I probably should have just because it was a 40th with 8000 miles on it. All I know is I love driving my Z and am thankful for this forum to go along with owning it. And unless something drastic happens where I need cash fast I plan on having mine for many years to come. Thanks for all your valuable input gents!

That may be an exaggeration. But the number of Z's I see on a weekly basis that I'm 90% sure are not on this forum has risen dramatically in the past year. At one time there was a black Nismo and a white sport model literally within 5 houses on either side of me and another one a few streets over. None of them are on the forum and none were even interested in it when I spoke with them.
