Shift knob
Plan on putting a different shift knob on my car as soon as in comes in the mail. tried unscrewing mine just to see if it would come off no cigar. How the heck do you get these suckers off. Hell on my 350z it spun right off.
Also Tried removing the front nissan badge to replace it with a blacked out one with two sided tape. seems like the stock one is bolted on. Is it? what about the rear badge is it stuck on with tape are bolted on? Thankz a bunch This info will save me alot of headache. |
Front badge is just tape.
Shift knob is a bitch apparently. Entire tube of thread locker on every one. People use all sorts of wrenches for leverage. Just make sure you protect your interior. |

You'll need 3 things.
1x: electrical tape 1x: gaffers/duct tape 1x: pipe wrench the size to bludgeon Andre the Giant with Wrap enough electrical tape on the shift knob to about the size of a grapefruit. About half a roll. Hell, full roll. Screw it. it's cheap. Next, wrap the gaffers tape over the duct tape. Wrap until it's the size of a human head. (i'm exaggerating but you get the idea) Take the pipe wrench and twist that bastard until it feels like the car will turn before the knob does. Remove all the tape and you have a stock knob that hasn't been chewed alive. Enjoy. |
^ I agree, BUT you should hold the bottom portion of the shifter to hold it straight so you don't do any damage to the shifter/tranny

A strap wrench from home depot will work fine, use some man muscle on it. Drop your shiftboot and hold the shifter steady with something else.

This is exactly why I have been putting off changing the oem shifter knob.
