I think it all depends on the cars you've owned in the past. Your judgement is going to be based on personal experience as well as ours, so opinions will vary. My last car was an 05 350Z and I can tell you the 370Z kicks harder when the power comes on. The 350 was very linear in it's power delivery, and it delivered it early on(peak torque 3800). It was not that exciting and it definitely didn't feel that fast. But going fast and feeling fast are not always the same thing. The 370 doesn't really pickup until after 3-3.5k in my opinion, but when the power comes on it kicks WAY harder than my 350. And it has the same linear delivery, except this time it actually "feels" fast.

One of my favorite tricks that I know will scare the crap out of most passengers is to cruise along at 40mph in 4th, and then all of a sudden down shift to 2nd and floor it. Just make sure to turn VDC off as this will most certainly chirp the tires.

Nah, S mode is irrelevant for that kind of shift because you are stepping on the gas and the clutch at the same time, with the goal of hitting the new gear at the approximate RPM of where it should be but under full throttle acceleration. S-mode would help if you did it more progressively, i.e. down shift, then accelerate, but the goal is to have it as one fluid motion.
It's just for entertainment purposes, I don't drive like that everyday. |

I think people say this because there isn't a lot of low end torque, so there is no snap when you step on it. The power builds as the RPM's come up but it is a gradual surge unless you down shift first.
