I'm down for them why not! Sporty car with sporty gloves experience the full effect of being raced out!

axmea? 03-18-2016 01:58 AM

Only when driving Miss Daisy or when committing a crime.

JC-Nismo 03-18-2016 02:25 AM

Errrrrrrr No.................

RonRizz 03-18-2016 04:28 AM

Lol... quite Lame.... Unless you're O.J.

sp911 03-18-2016 05:43 AM

I bought them when I had my Porsche and after a while never used them. save your money and waste it on something else.

barncobob 03-18-2016 05:56 AM

only if they match my driving shoes:ohsnap1:

POS VETT 03-18-2016 05:57 AM

I wear gloves when driving in cold temperatures, for obvious reason, and while participating in an autocross. The gloves give me consistent grip since my palms sweat in such hot temperature creating inconsistent friction for the steering wheel making it harder to grip and steer.

Too much hassle to put on and take off gloves for street driving. Although, when I had my '12 BOSS 302 with its alcantra steering wheel, I creatively "found" excuses to wear gloves while driving it to preserve the alcantra ;)

kenchan 03-18-2016 06:14 AM

I wear tein work gloves as driving gloves on occasion. They are suede on the grip side so makes for a consist grip on a colder day. The knob gets bitter cold too since metal. The gloves help tremendously.

NorthStyle 03-18-2016 06:14 AM

For normal day-to-day driving they're not necessary. However, for aggressive driving, I'd say yes; wouldn't want to make a mistake because of sweaty hands. I have one of my friends in Japan searching for a set of the Nismo gauntlet-style gloves...

Dirk McGurck 03-18-2016 06:28 AM

I use a driving sock.

What was the question?

I use driving gloves in the "shoulder" seasons as I really enjoy keeping my top down on my roadster as far into the winter and as early in the spring as I can. Driving gloves keep my fingers warmer - I wish there was a steering wheel heater in my Z.

I keep a pair of leather work gloves in the truck just in case of anything else.

jshare1 03-18-2016 08:45 AM

well your car has a glove box right, then obviously you need gloves.

HEK 03-18-2016 08:51 AM

In the winter on long drives I have a pair of driving gloves it makes you look distinguished kind of like a Brit snob...lol

bbs370z 03-18-2016 08:57 AM

I found out mizuno batting gloves are very good for driving. Good grip, I can actually navigate my touch screen nav/audio screen without taking them off and keeps my new atc deep corn wheel looking mint.

JARblue 03-18-2016 09:00 AM

I'd gladly use some even though I think they are kinda lame. But my hands sweat, and its annoying.

I'm looking for lightweight, breathable gloves for the summer months. Something warmer for the winter months would be nice, too, but not too warm because Austin doesn't actually get cold. Nothing bulky.

I've thought about batting gloves and golf gloves and stuff, but they just don't look right for the most part.

If you have batting gloves at home try them out. They work real well for me. They are so light and thin you won't even notice wearing them.

edub370 03-18-2016 09:09 AM

i wear them because my cf steering wheel and wedding ring don't get along. plus it makes me feel like a sir! lol

Hotrodz 03-18-2016 09:13 AM

Some folks like to use golf gloves as well...

bbs370z 03-18-2016 09:15 AM

A couple friends drive wearing Mechanix gloves. I have a pair too but already fouled up with oil and grease lol.

axmea? 03-18-2016 11:15 AM

This is turning out to be a regional, functional, medical, and definitely fashion forward issue. I personally like the natural feel. If you're one of those who wear gloves because you feel safe wearing it, then you must have a nice supply of Trojans.

Different of course if you are in the track btw.

TriNismo 03-18-2016 11:38 AM

Thinking of getting a pair of gloves. But then I'd have to drive commando.. cause, you know.. offset the added weight. Gotta keep balance in the Force

My dad had them in the 80's in his old 911's and Audi's. As a kid they were just so bad-***!! Now...still bad-***!!! LOL!! Too hot in FL though.

Fuzzzy 03-18-2016 03:01 PM

Driving gloves, driving shoes, chaps, and a riding crop ftw!

Yeee-haaaaaaaa

vrizzo53 03-18-2016 03:41 PM

lol wtf if I saw someone wearing driving gloves they would get a beating

Dwight Frye 03-18-2016 04:13 PM

Driving gloves were popular when sports cars had skinny steering wheels made of plastic or had wood rims. And no power steering. They had a definite function. In today's cars, you'll look like a fop.

Sly Nic 03-18-2016 04:55 PM

Could it be that all you people drive hardtops and stay warm all the time?

In a roadster, your hands get cold. To suggest that some one is a fop because they like to keep their hands warm I find to be a bit....shall we say...out there?

Spooler 03-18-2016 05:08 PM

LOL, I wore them in the 80's when it was cool to wear them. The ones that only cover half your fingers. Also protects your knuckles if you needed to get out and punch someone in the mouth. Like I said, 80's.

Cops still wear them for that reason!

In 1982, I was 24 and drove a Porsche 911 Targa as my DD, gloves were helpful on cold California mornings with the top off. Fast forward, the kids are out of college, I'm in the market for a coupe. I would not wear gloves in California.

Good point. If I had a Nismo with the alcantara steering wheel, I'd probably be tempted to wear driving gloves.

kenchan 03-19-2016 06:46 AM

Regardless of wat people think, I think u can get away with wearing gloves in a sports car. Would look silly in a normal car though unless u don't want ur hands tanning or something, reasons unrelated to enjoying a car.

AestheticCM1 03-21-2016 12:33 PM

Every time I get in the car. Lined deer skin in the winter. Deer skin in the fall/spring, peccary leather in the summer. The steering wheel is a bit to slick without them.

It's pointless for me to consider them now. My steering wheel has hand sweat and everything all on it. :(

What's a good solution to clean up the wheel?

I use a warm water on paper towel.

once had to use watered down rubbing alcohol

I am tempted to buy gloves for summer months cause I get sweaty hands but then I'd get weird tan lines on my hands/wrists. plus it can get hot...

I already get the weird tan line on my wrists from golf (and it's just one hand, since one glove is used). :icon17:

fop:icon17: You just don't hear that one much around here.

I was gonna say look like a ponce but, Fop is more apt.

abdulisraddd 03-21-2016 10:25 PM

lol I cringe when people wear gloves at the gym.... men don't need soft hands!
