Only when driving Miss Daisy or when committing a crime.

I wear gloves when driving in cold temperatures, for obvious reason, and while participating in an autocross. The gloves give me consistent grip since my palms sweat in such hot temperature creating inconsistent friction for the steering wheel making it harder to grip and steer.
Too much hassle to put on and take off gloves for street driving. Although, when I had my '12 BOSS 302 with its alcantra steering wheel, I creatively "found" excuses to wear gloves while driving it to preserve the alcantra |

I wear tein work gloves as driving gloves on occasion. They are suede on the grip side so makes for a consist grip on a colder day. The knob gets bitter cold too since metal. The gloves help tremendously.

For normal day-to-day driving they're not necessary. However, for aggressive driving, I'd say yes; wouldn't want to make a mistake because of sweaty hands. I have one of my friends in Japan searching for a set of the Nismo gauntlet-style gloves...

I use driving gloves in the "shoulder" seasons as I really enjoy keeping my top down on my roadster as far into the winter and as early in the spring as I can. Driving gloves keep my fingers warmer - I wish there was a steering wheel heater in my Z.
I keep a pair of leather work gloves in the truck just in case of anything else.
