Back on topic. I had physical therapy today. All went well. I can move my neck now. They even had a mason jar of apple pie waiting for me after the fact. Go figure. It is great living in the south.

Like I said before. You will have good day/ bad day. Just don't over do it on your good day. Because the bad day will be worst.

Still waiting on the insurance company to see what is going to happen with the car. I have the repair quote in my hands at $20,500 dollars and when he cuts the right rear quarter off who knows what he will find. Wish they would go ahead and total it so I can move on.

Hope all is well Spooler. At $20.5k you are right under the border. The value of the Z with all the options and in pristine condition is slightly higher depending on your mileage so it is cutting it real close. Factoring the cost related to personal injury, they may decide to just total it. The body shop you are working with play a role to influence this. They can say "I know we will find more underneath" but if they are part of the other party's network or even yours they will attempt to go cheap or rebuild many parts.

I refuse to use the insurance company network. That is nothing more than a rip off. I am in good hands on that side. If it has to be fixed, it will be done correctly.

How did you come up with your values? I am using what my adjuster said. That is 75% of the value and the base value is at 25k. The total point will be $18,750. Wish I knew exactly how they came up with their numbers.

kbb tool to estimate and a slight knowledge after dealing with multiple shops and insurance companies from previous accidents me and relatives have been involved with in the past. Again, i did not have mileage so it is a rough estimation. If their body shop lowballs their cost the insurance company will not think twice about getting it fixed and you'd get a call right away. They need headroom and the smaller the headroom the worse it is for them. The repair cost is at 20 + and will possibly go up (unless they rebuild most to restore it) decreasing the room they need to make it worth their while so my hunch is they will total. Hope I am right on this one. edit: cause you don't want this car back.

We shall see. Yeah, it is bad enough getting it fixed correctly will be a big challenge. I have the right guys to do it. I prefer they total it and work with me on the rest.

Had a buddy's merc declared as totaled by their insurance, cashes out, and he bought it as salvaged. Rebuilds it by himself along with his "network" and came out ahead. Would not have worked without DIY'ing much of it.

Dude, sorry to hear/read all this. I live on the south side of Houston, and due to all of the road work going on down here, my VW was rear ended twice in a month... first guy's insurance fought mine on getting the repair work done and the 2nd just kind of destroyed the chance the first would pay out on anything as now the rear bumper cover was damaged more beyond the first accident... not long after that, the VW diesel scandal hit and the car's value plummeted to the point that my insurance straight told me the car could be totaled out over the bumper cover (and the damage was very minimal). I just drove it till I got fed up with being in that thing every day, and traded it in. Luckily for me, I didn't have any neck issues as the impacts were rather low speed, but I did get whip lash when I was... 6 or 7, and I remember what that was like, so I hope everything comes out for you alright. I've been extremely worried this would happen to my Z as that is my daily driver, and the south side of Houston is full of proctologists. Once again, sorry to hear/read about this, and I hope everything works out for you, though I do agree with axmea?, you might not want the car back once they look on the inside of it and they potentially find structural damage. I know where I live, if the frame is bent at all, it is totaled out.

Talked with the insurance adjuster today. 99% totaled. I am just waiting for their offer. Now the fun begins. Working on the new ride at the same time. 2013 Nismo MB with 7,750 miles.
