New VR engine in same 370z body for 2017?

Hey guys. First time post but long time reader. I drive a 07 350z and am strongly considering upgrading to a 370.

Question is, what's the chances nissan just drops the new 400hp tt VR engine into the existing 370? Maybe tweak it/ give it a face lift.

They did that with the Infiniti sadan. It was a vq and now a VR. So why not save money and drop that beast in the 370 which is still the sexiest car out in my opinion.

Thoughts???

no chance

I don't see that happening. The VR has to take up more space and with the additional plumbing and air handling, it would take a decent amount of work to squeeze it in. The Q60 was a redesign, similar to the G35 Sedan changing exterior first, then engine.

there's like 3 or 4 threads going al about the next possible Z

if youre a long time reader you should know where the search bar is by now lol

also i agree with dirk it would be a pain to fit and need redeisgned.

Sorry regarding the new thread. I just haven't seen specifically this discuss anywhere else.

I'm sad you guys say no chance though. It'd be sick if that did that then came out with new body after. Send off the 370 with proper power package.

well he finally made a solid point that the engine dimensions most likely wont work especially with the car specific turbo plumbing.

dont worry he will say something else and it'll be back to the regularly scheduled programming lol

Whew. I was about to check my calendar to see if there was a full moon.

This.

Either they will drop the Z line again (the smarter move), or a completely new model

Dirk McGurck 03-03-2016 07:02 PM

You want them to kill the Z?

Nismoee 03-05-2016 12:41 PM

Highly doubt Nissan is gonna drop the VQ if they continue the "370z" name. VR is a much larger engine and the current Z engine bay would need to be redesigned.

NeverBoneStck 03-05-2016 07:21 PM

Honestly there probably is a good chance that will happen... I would wait.

idk if they would do this, but i do wonder if there will be a extra special last version of the car. one with 351hp or something

edk370 03-07-2016 09:33 AM

It would be sweet if all car manufacturers let you put in any engine as an option. Mine would look like,

Car: 2017 Nissan 370Z (base $26,000; excludes engine and transmission)
Engine: GM V8 LT-1 460 hp, 455 lb/ft. torque at 5600 RPM (add $7,000)
Transmission: 7-speed manual $2,500
Sport package: add $3,000

Total MSRP excluding destination: $38,500
...Do you want to proceed?
