Default Which model should i get??? HELP!

I'm in the market for a 370z. I'm mainly going for it for its look and performance, but other features come into play as well.

I initially wanted a Touring with sport and navi package. I love the way the stock navi looks in the car. I also wanted the upgraded sound and leather seats. After doing some reading on here..it seems that the stock sound is crap.

Now, im thinking about getting a base model with sport packge (i'd save $6000 by going this route based on nissan's prices on the site) and just adding my own after market navi and subs.

To those of you with the whole navi setup, is it worth it? or do you some times think you'd be better off with aftermarket system?

Those of you with after market units, is the screen to low? does that big pocket bother you?

how are the leather vs cloth seats?

I love my NAV too. I went with sport touring nav because:
sport = I wanted the upgraded brakes, rims, and syncro-revmatch.
touring = I loved the leather/suede combo - Always wanted suede and I also love the heated seats.
Nav = only because i hated that huge storage box that went in place of the non-nav cars.

thats my reasoning. everybody has their own. I personally dont think the music sounds like crap - but then again I am severely profoundly deaf

Aesthetically, I think the Navi option adds a lot of class to the instrument panel. I have the touring/sport but no Nav, and the flip-up panel in the center of the dash reminds others that I cheaped out.

The navi gives you a lot of control options that are missing elsewise, an iPod dock + XM traffic. I find, however, that I can live quite nicely without it, and a simple Garmin Nuvi works just fine if I need nav.

The touring gives you heated seats, leather instead of cloth (with nice alcantra seating surfaces), bluetooth, aluminum pedals, auto-dimming mirror, the Bose 6-disc/8 speaker stereo, satellite radio. The sport option gives you the limited slip differential, 19" forged wheels, spoilers, and the synchro-rev match system.

If you want looks and performance, the sport package is a no-brainer. You can skip the touring if none of those features is critical to you. My wife REALLY wanted heated seats, and a different color interior, which turned the tide for us, and frankly we like the bluetooth and XM more than we expected. So the touring has turned out to be nicer to live with, for our needs.

good points. i was leaning towards your setup because of the leather and i want nav as well and i feel the same about that huge storage box but i dont know if i can justify the price difference if im going to want better sound. navi model with sport compared to base model wth sport is bout 6-7k difference in price...is that worth the look and leather seats?

i agree with the better look in the instrument panel and the "i cheaped out" look of the picket. for me its not even about cheaping out, its more about not wasting money on something i wont be happy with. im definitely getting sport pack, thats a no brainer like you said. i'd would add my own navi and subs and everythng if i get the base model (too many people were complaining about the bose not being that great).

im in south florida so heated seats is something i'll never turn on..leather here burns up. the bluetooth i can get in after market navi..so i guess it comes down to leather vs cloth seats and whether or not i want a big pocket.

so most of you have a touring model? most without navi it seems, is the touring model that much better than base?

the biggest difference for me are the leather seats...i cant even count the audio (6 speakers and 2 subs) because i'd end up wanting adding my own subs and i'm definitely adding my own navi.

Actually, the Alcantra seating surfaces are not bad in hot weather. We had our Z over a week of 100F+ days and getting in wasn't too bad. Of course, we have the grey, not black interior and Pearl White exterior, which also helps reduce sun-loading. But check it out, the leather is OK in the heat.

Oh yeah, the Nuvi models 700+ series will do bluetooth too, plus they will read the phone book of your handsets, something the factory bluetooth in the Z will NOT do.

anyone know if the stock or other navi models have voice recognition? I want to be able to just say "Call Whoever" and have it dial.

I love the integrated stock Navigation. It just integrates better than anything aftermarket. Yes it does have voice activation through a button the steering wheel to place calls and climate control etc...

The extra price for Leather Seats and a nice stock navigation look was worth the price IMO. You can always upgrade the speakers and add an amp or 2 if you want something louder like I did.
