anyone put mesh in front of radiator
to keep rocks, debris from hitting it,, there are some big gaps in the slats and its so close to ground,,maybe 1/4-3/8" mesh/screening..
|
Nope, but I should have. :(
I would have gone smaller 1/8" at the most, but made it so you can take it out easily for cleaning. |
People have take the plastic grill out and put in mesh. First person I can think of from the top of my head is Trips.

Im thinking the grill will deflect the big stuff and the mesh will get the rocks and smaller stuff
|
I have one that pfdaxe made custom... pics are in his build thread.

I didnt want anything external.... im gonna go under hood and see if i can make something that sits in front of radiator but doesnt impede air flow..im working on it..im retired and have PLENTY of time..:icon14:

I put a Nismo RC mesh grille on the opening. Pic's on page 11 of my journal. :D

If you do it, watch your temps closely. On my C-Class, everyone started putting mesh in front of the intercooler becasue of the huge gaps in the main grill. And everyone started over heating. The engineers make the openings for airflow as small as they can and when you start taking away even 10% or 15% of it, it makes a difference.
