Well looks like worst case scenario - So i need some ideas.

Confirmed at Nissan Shop Steering lock failure. Pulled it home.

FInnaly got time to get out and rip the thing open - Buttons made contact and fixed it - The car now lights up like a Christmas tree as it should -BUT still no start... Checked Clutch switch it seems to be ok. Unplugged battery for 20 mins, pluged back in - still nothing. Check engine light is one - and things just seem over all weird.

Any ideas guys?

Do you have a code reader?
Might want to check all the connections again.

The exact same thing happened to me several weeks ago.

2011 Nismo with the JF00D steering lock.

The car would light up but it would not fire. I did not have the SES light but I put a code reader on it anyway, but it wasn't throwing any codes.

I purchased a new steering lock (right at $700) and put everything back together. The car fired on the first start, so I pulled the fuse and learned an expensive lesson. Luckily, mine $hit the bed in the garage.

I filed a report with the NHTSA and called Nissan NA. Nissan called me back and while she listened to me, she said Nissan couldn't reimburse customer fixed repairs. She said I should have taken it to a dealer and paid $1,500 and then ask for a good will reimbursement.

So Fsck you Nissan.

Hmm interesting, Mine was totally screwed, it wouldnt light up or go to ACC or anything. They diagnosed it as Steering lock fail at the dealer, so I said cool i can fix that and took it home. I fixed it and it now tunrs to acc and On... but I still have no fire? Ugh.

Should I drag it back to the Dealer?

After tearing the lock apart and depressing the buttons, mine would cycle to on but it wouldn't start. I think the only option at this point is to replace the lock.

Find out if your car is in the *Voluntary Service Campaign ** Steering Lock Fix**

If it's not, good luck bartering with Nissan. The dealer is going to want you to pay for the entire repair upfront and then you have to call Nissan NA and open up a case.

From what I've read, sometimes after several weeks of b!tching they reimburse you for about half of the repair. Or you can get a new steering lock and replace it yourself.

I drove down to Courtesy Nissan and paid right at $700 for the ESCL. I called 2 dealers and both estimated about $1,500 if they fixed it.

which is the latest version for the steering lock?

I read that the version came out about 2 - 3 years ago was reliable.

Yeah i already fought with consumer affairs, they wont do anything for me, hell I had to pay 98$ for the dealer to confirm it was ESCl before consumer would even tell me if theey would cover it or not, so i paid... then they said Nah... we wont help you. Not even the "good will " thing

Sounds to me like youre gonna have to suck it up, and pay.... The car is 5 years old, after all. It does suck, though.

My 2011 came with the JF00D version. That is the same version Nissan just sold me as a replacement and is also the replacement in the voluntary recall. So no, they haven't fixed the problem.

So if you haven't bypassed the ESCL, you should do it now.

Reading your thread made me pull out my fuse this afternoon. I've been wanting to pull mine for awhile, but reading the other replies, that fuse had to go.

Good luck getting yours fixed.
