Cabin Filter

Hey guys, I've read the back posts about cabin filters, but now that some of you are getting up there in miles, I was curious how many have tried to install/replace the cabin filter on the 09 370z.

I took mine to the dealership for the 15k service and the rep told me it would be $182.xx, so I ask him what would be done, it was my standard free service (oil/filter/inspection/fluids) plus tire rotation and cabin filter replacement. Since I knew from reading here that there is no cabin filter in there, basically I was going to be charged $182 for a tire rotation. Obviously I told him no, just give me my normal service. Just curious if anyone else has run into that yet or if some of these cars actually did come with the filter.

Tire rotation? lulz.

Cabin filter no exist with 09, it's (rumored to be) there with 2010's though.

Well the "tire rotation" at 15k is normal from what I've seen, but it's not really a rotation I guess, more of a swap. Either way I just emailed the service manager at my local dealership to give him what I thought was correct information (about the no filter, etc) and if he sends me back anything I'll be sure to post it up for you guys.

Umnmmm...There is no swap, there is no rotation. Front and rear tires are different sizes...

From my understanding at 15k they move the left to the right and the right to the left, no rotation as in there is no moving the fronts to the back and backs to the front. This is basically what they told me, I assumed it was correct since like you said, fronts and back are different sizes.

I wouldn't do that. First there's no point, as the camber wear will be the same left or right. The Potenza's are not directional, but once they take a set, changing the rotation direction could impose noise that you didn't have before.

SKIP.

Thanks for the info Modshack, I know jack-all about tires so I was just going to go with them on this one. Now I know better. No reply back from my Service Manager (actually the guy I emailed was apparently the Service Director) so hopefully in the next day or so he will get back to me with some info about the cabin filter.

No problem! Those guys are used to working on Maximas and Altimas with relatively high profile all season tires. When you get into the realm of high performance sport tires, the characteristics (and options here) change. Just say no to that, but try to score a free cabin filter! Apparently the holder and ducting is there, it just doesn't have a filter in it.

Here is the email I received back from my Nissan service department.

Mr. Billy

You are exactly right. I need to change the 15 and the 30K price to exclude the cabin air filter. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. If we charged you the $182, we owe you a refund for the filter. The fact that the vehicle does not have a filter doesn’t make since to me either.

Another case that dealership are actually stealership. They would make up anything/excuses for an extra dollar.

I wish we can order these already. I wonder if the current lineup of Nissan models match the 370's in cabin air filter in size? Maybe we can just order a Nissan cube air filter for example ... iono. Guess I'll try stopping by the dealership and ask around next time I get a chance. Or wait for the 2010 models to come out..whichever comes first

Especially in my case. My dealership charged me nearly $200 for wheels lock .... that was never even installed! Luckily after bringing this issue up with Nissan corporate, they mailed me the check for what they charged me because I had already move out of state by then.
