Are you sure it doesn't do it in other gears? Try it at like 60-70 mph in 3rd gear and hang in neutral before shifting to 4th. If you actually shift into the gear or at least hold the shifter at the gate with the clutch in and still in neutral, the engine will continue to rev match as the RPMs drop even as the car slows.
